Back to Benteke, I've just spent a few minutes watching a video of all his goals from 2012 to 2015. Blimey, what a striker he was. Includes the goal he scored against us for Villa, when he won the ball in front of the Arthur around the junction of touch line and halfway and went all the way. How we lost that game 0-1 I'll never know - it was one of those nights.

Yes some truth in this but I watched him closely today and his work rate was non existent, positional sense the same and was just going through the motions. Admittedly the balls coming into the box weren’t the best but such little challenge. A central defenders dream and he has been ever since he joined us.

When Benteke wasn't available, we were pumping long balls to Ayew who is about 5'4 and wouldn't get on the end of them if he had a trampoline. Edited by Petts Wood Eagle (26 Dec 2020 7.58pm)

Total donkey. Also reliably informed by my son that he’s in the top five all time players caught offside in the Premier League. Too many excuses. Twenty chances missed from twenty three in 2017-18 the worst stats in Europe.

But he did have quite a few long balls out of defence and from goalkeeper that he never got on end of or showed any effort. That's the problem with him lack of effort .Him and Watkins like chalk and cheese and Watkins wasn't getting lots of high balls or crosses either .Sometimes just movement and effort are enough.

A guy of his size in never going to have the work rate of Kante. But we didn't put in a single early ball or cross to his head. His first go against West Brom was an early goal into his head. We know he's limited, but don't play him to his strengths.
