Our biggest problem all season has been our complete fear of holding onto the ball. I think Riedewald must have gave it away about 20 times last night and then nobody else was much better.Sakho makes a differnce when he starts because he tries to pass the ball but then he is always liable to make a big mistake so id rather stick with Tomkins and Cahill. I think we are a better team with Ayew up front and he deserves to play up there ahead of the rest of the strikers. I would agree, but we are currently short of a quality right winger. The pressure would lift off Zaha in an instant if we had a similar outlet on the right. It would as you rightly say, then allow Ayew to move back to his preferred central position and we would revert to a balanced attack. At the moment we are restricted to left side assaults which every team we play has worked out how to deal with. This is why I have been banging on about spending decent money on a winger but it seems to fall on deaf ears.

I don't believe we are safe in the slighest. I can see this year being the highest points total to stay up in recent history. At this point last year we had Cardiff 19 points so already there is 4 point difference on the team in 3rd last and the bottom teams this year are stronger. we are far from safe. I had a conversation with an A.Villa supporter the other night who was incredulous that I was showing concerns over our prospects. We gain draws, pick up wins here and there on the back of abject performances and at the end of the day this might not be enough. At the weekend Burnley beat Leicester, I would have no faith that we could emulate this result.Last night Bournemouth scored 3 to beat Brighton - don't think too many supporters would bet on us to actually score 3 goals in a game and of course we failed to beat Brighton at home.A.Villa came from behind to beat Watford and Newcastle came from 2 goals behind to gain a very commendable draw at Everton. I accept we came from behind to beat W.Ham but at a time when they were in the doldrums under Pellegrini. In general terms I and many others I suspect have precious little faith that we have the ability to turn a game on it's head as others have done. I do think Wilf is being asked to play in a very rigid fashion and is not being given freedom to roam - otherwise he would so. At least Roy should tinker with the formation/tactics slightly when Max came on. Just move Max (although he is not a winger) to the wing and Zaha to play centrally.

Lets just move on. Saints were better than us in every department. I went to the reverse fixture a few weeks ago and we matched them for the vast majority of the game.

Good morning, I have to admit that i have not read through the 20 pages of comments on this thread but I have scanned through the last few pages. So here is my take on last night Us, lethargic, overly defensive minded and outrun in midfield. Ayew not a wide player so failed to protect kelly who is not a right back. Tuson rush of blood was a killer blow. Them, fresh, all over us, creative, worked on our weak right side. To be fair two good goals but both should have been closed down. Their sh*t house players wound up Wilf who acted the whole night like a petulant schoolboy. Ten days rest much needed, recovery from injury of our wounded, sign Walker-Peters from Spurs try and get a creative midfielder and a right winger. Relegation? Highly unlikely but we need a few more results to be sure. they will come with a revitalised squad. And finally... Roy must step down (or go upstairs) at the end of the season and we have to find a manager who can bring a breath of fresh air, new ideas and an attack minded approach to help us move on and up. As for the board and investors, Who knows what is and will happen?
I am enjoying being back at Selhurst and having a beer with my mates just like we have done for the past 40 years. Through Thick and thin we stick with our club. Not chairman, players or managers, OUR CLUB! |

We lost a game and all the haters start to hate etc. We are still having a good season overall. The moaning gets very boring I think Wilf, as our best player, still needs to be more mature. He's not a kid but still reacts like one sometimes. Nothing to do with hate. We are discussing last nights game. Perhaps you didn't see it but it was an abject performance and people are venting their frustration at how hapless we were. If we had just been unlucky then your comments would perhaps be valid, but there were no positives whatsoever in last night' performance. We were slow, outwitted, couldn't pass and toothless up front. In fact they are features that have been prominent in our play generally this season but somehow we have muddled through by raising our game for periods in matches. What it does show is that we are walking a fine line between success and failure.

As for the board and investors, Who knows what is and will happen? This was probably our biggest problem all night but we have to remember that we have be playing the last month without a recognised full back so our draws against Arse and City were only papering over the massive cracks. EWe have played more than a month without a fullback and 1 winger. We have lost most of the pace in our side and most of our width. We are blessed to not be sitting in the relagation zone. There are not many teams in this division that would cope with so many injuries in the wide positions. The board need to take full responsibilty for this and fans need to fealise the situation we are in.

Saints looked a class above. Outplayed in every dept. Our one potential threat was wound-up and fouled out of the game. Palace are an enigma. Battled to a draw at ManCity yet could not get remotely close against Saints. Where is the next win coming from? After last night's effort I'm wondering if the board and manager have shares in Prozac.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

Nothing has changed much in 50 years except that we are now an established top flight team instead of playing in the old third division. Cup half full here.
