Usual over the top disappointment on here after a loss. Chelsea were on fire, won 5 straight league games coming into it and will most likely finish in the top 4. No shame getting beaten away to them. November was always going to be extremely tough, Leicester at home and Arsenal away were the only two games we could realistically target points from. Yes, we are boring going forward but that’s because we have no goal scorers. Roy knows this so has probably realised the only way we’ll get points is to be solid defensively, which we are. Things will change if we can get a striker in, as they did last season when we signed Batshuayi. The players still look motivated and well organised. After the Liverpool game we have a favourable run of 9 games where i’d expect us to win more than we lose. Nothing to worry about, Roy is doing well with what he has. Those moaning about boring Roy are probably the same as those who were critical of Pardew for being too open at the back. Great post.

Since when does being a supporter preclude you voicing a criticism if the view is sincerely held?

Of course most would expect Chelsea to beat us. But it’s the manner of the defeat. Jimmy Mac is the only consistent passer in the midfield Roy chooses and he had a bad day. There were no plan B options on the bench just more variations of plan A. It’s terrible to watch and I guess that is why there’s so much disappointment on this board.

3 holding midfielders again after a dismal performance last weekend. It seems like Roy is setting us up to minimise the size of score line. 2-0 in the last two games doesn't look bad but we were atrocious. He's got to set up in a way that will give paying supporters some hope that we are trying to win games. Or at least make positive substitutions when we are chasing the game. Roy also has to take responsibility for the dreadful recruitment. Use the players we sign or kick up a fuss that we dont have decent full backs or a striker.

Chelsea have a young and energetic team who are in great form and playing for the manager. There was a total gulf in class and pace. Guaita, Kouyate and the two centre backs put in a performance but the remainder overrun. Reece James looks a real talent and it is noticeable how much attention Zaha is getting from the opposition who are on him the moment he gets the ball even deep in our half. We should have had a goal just before half time when Zouma was let off by the referee after falling on the ball under challenge from Zaha. Dreadful reffing. I purposely avoided using such a word as I don’t believe Parish would do such a thing. Part Company is very different and can be from either side and handled in a number of ways. I’m far more grounded and sensible than the lady you refer to and I also know that if we only take one point from the Liverpool, Burnley & Watford games...and then lose at home to Brighton with an abject performance (as per my previous post) then it is likely that we will part company with Roy.

I don’t disagree with that last paragraph. I think the run up to January is crucial for Hodgson. He needs the same win / draw / lose pattern as before this last set of matches against the top sides. I hope after Liverpool we get back to picking up points to keep us mid table, but if we drop down to the bottom I’m sure we will as you say “part company with him” Lets hope that doesn’t happen?

Edited by Rachid Rachid Rachid (10 Nov 2019 9.31am) The defense in parts are doing their best however you do worry how far we are digging a future hole for ourselves in terms of attack. Without any attacking mids being near to the first team how will getting a new striker improve the situation ? Look at Vardy's last 2 goals, they have been set up for him and he has finished them well. In fact who is going to make the decision to recruit a striker in Jan if at all ? As we can't go to the academy because it is Old Mother Hubbard running it, all we can hope for is that we get a proper recruitment scheme going, as it is clearly presently dysfunctional somewhere along the line. Utd, Spuds and Everton will get better and overtake us for sure. Fair few teams in sniffing distance above us though. As you say December will be make or break for us.

We have been through a rather hellish groups of fixtures and so in being realistic, the results have not been entirely unexpected. Looking forward the Liverpool game though, while Burney and Watford away are tough, I wouldn't be surprised to see us pick up some points at one or both. I sincerely hope you’re right as we need something to arrest the slide but I don’t entirely see where it’s coming from with current performances, both team and individual.
