We should have been two down at half time, we should have been two up in the second. 1-1 was fair result, even if it's frustrating that we failed to manage the game at the end. Camarasa played the lone striker/false 9 role at Cardiff at times last season, so just take Bentenke out the squad. I said it last week, he is embarrassing himself and the club with his inept performances. Find him a loan in January where he can see out his contract.

On the plus side, I thought Ward had a good game until the weird attempted floor header at the end and Kouyate imposed himself on the game. Wilf once again proved too much for the opposition fullback and looks much better on the right. Sakho was better than last week and should hopefully be back to himself by next Saturday. Vicente had a very good game.

Yes 1-1 fair result, Benteke I feel needs to just simply bloody score and in his desperation to do so is simply trying too hard to make sure he does! ..he is totally scared stiff of his performances and the flak from fans what Hodgson is doing is correct with him.
Ward just lost his feet and I thought Kouyate had his best ever game with us, he was quite outstanding at times ..but as you mentioned during that first half I thought we could easily have been three down and chasing a virtual lost cause for the second, we were extremely lucky.

We were camped in their half and didn't create anything of note. That is exactly the time to make a change to unlock their defence. Playing with 3 holding midfielders against 10 men is ridiculous. We needed to kill the game off, yet Roy didn't take advantage of the man advantage. Part of managing a game is to see that things aren't working and to try and change that. He didn't, we continued to waste all of the promising positions we were getting into and then look nervy for the last 10 minutes. The exact same thing happened against Villa and we were nearly punished then.

So which of these are you going with ?

And what '' wasn't working '' ? We were keeping Wolves contained and then contrived to miss two sitters that would have secured three points and then Ward made an unfortunate error. In my opinion you introduce flair players when you are chasing the game which we weren't at 1-0 up.

Look, I'm no fan of the football being served up at the moment, and yes I would like to see a creative midfield player come in and make a difference. But I'm not convinced that Hodgson can get the best out of that type of player. And while his remit is to keep the club in the Premier League and his methods achieve that, it's largely pointless levelling some of the criticism he gets.

To suggest they are not being properly coached is absurd.

Despite being '' clueless '' going forward we still created two gilt edged chances to wrap the game up.

This with brass knobs, there were at least three occasions where scoring would have been much much easier ..if one had gone in all the writing would be about the first half display only.

Why are we all too often sub-standard in first halves?

They are both valid points and don't contradict each other. Getting into promising positions isn't the same as creating chances. How many times did Wilf get free down the right, or get into the box only for there not to be a player making a run to give him an option ?

Our shape and structure when we're out of possession is very good, that's what Roy does well. There is no pattern to our play going forward. If we are so well set up defensively yet so haphazard going forward, where does the fault lie ?

The total lack of professionalism is breathtaking at times, yet time and again we manage to eclipse the previous performance.

I am not going to blame anyone for letting the 3 points slip through our fingers, as the whole team and the management were equally at fault. If anything has been learnt from yesterday’s performance can this be brought to our next home game against Norwich...

How can you say that we didn’t create anything of note and then say we wasted promising positions ?! It’s one or the other.

Zaha can make all the runs he likes but while the club fail to sign a genuine goal scorer that has the awareness to provide that outlet for him then we will continue to struggle to score goals

So what would you do with the players at Hodgson ‘s disposal - let’s remind ourselves that our forwards consist of a washed up Benteke a sick note Wickham and the hard working but not exactly lethal Ayew ?

Precisely.

We are certainly not-freighted with great forward prowess, as per last season, when our top scorer was Milivojevic with penalties and free kicks. No additions up front and no replacement for AWB - what a wonderful transfer window ! I actually feel for Hodgson who certainly hasn't been supported in the transfer market.
