I appreciate we've not spent any of the summer budget and Adamou probably was a case of getting him in now instead of in the summer when we need to anyway but, let's hope this keeper situation doesn't turn out to be negligent because it's pure hope it won't rather than management of the situation we're relying on with that issue. Actually Hennessy's a complete pussy so he's unlikely to be out for too long so maybe we'll be lucky after all.

I'm not talking about the Getaffe keeper who we understandably want to wait till the summer for a free transfer, eveyif it means losing out on him. I'm just talking about a bit of cheap insurance. We've done that in the past yet when it comes to a priority position we leave it late. Even the Brondby fans think it would've happened if we were earlier to give them time to sign a replacement, just like Tosun. What?! Tosun chose Everton over us. Most players would have made the same decision. More money; bigger club. I stand by my uninformed belief that we have been chasing the Brondby keeper for months until somebody proves otherwise.

Personally I would be upset if I were a Hammers or Stoke fan but am fairly pleased with what we did. Guata should come in the summer and looks excellent. With luck so will Amadou. We brought in 3 players, same as almost every other club. They all look decent buys in terms of value and also potentially to hit the ground running. It's a step up of course but that would apply to anyone we can afford to buy.

Doesn't look good I agree. However, what would you have done to have made it better in the January transfer window? Poor luck - remember, we are not responsible for what happened at the selling club's end - not to have got another keeper and DM; and equally poor luck we are without key players for the season through injury... Actually, I am not sure you are trying to say here? I think we are slowly and carefully growing a good squad within our limited budget and with our limited brand name. I know we are not there yet. Does that still make me rose tinted? Meanwhile, who highlighted in red to reflect "not fit for purpose". Total bollox re keepers... and Lee as occasional back-up. And "untried in the prem" - I suspect it won't take long to make an extensive list of players currently plying their trade in the prem who are having a very nice career, thanks very much, but who had no prem experience... before they had prem experience! And 2 injured players are likely to return for the run-in. I could turn this on its head and say you are unnecessarily pessimistic. Just as an FYI, I did not produce that table it was emailed to me. And I'm sorry but there are so many arguments on here surrounding people 'not knowing what goes on behind the scenes' but to be honest that is nonsense without producing the rhetoric of 'neither do you' I actually think we have a decent squad given realistic expectations, but to not have any other options up front, apart from a youngster from the Danish league now (admitted I don't know anything of him really) and have two GKs, one who is much loved but too old now and another who might potentially be a reasonable no.2, for more than one window is ridiculous and infuriating. Even Newcastle have brought in a Gk and Slimani! Transfer windows should not be anything new to those involved and they had plenty of time for risk assessment and to draw up a viable list of potential signings. The fact we have not solved these 2 issues is shambolic and further insulting that the club powers that be have on numerous occasions referred to these issues falsely alluding to a resolution. It's not good enough at this level and I'm not pessimistic I see us staying up, but that's not a certainty, especially now.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Lille did not screw us at all. The player, Amadou, is valued at 18 millions. So that's what they wanted. What would SP's reaction be to a similar loan deal for a Palace star, he would laugh it off, rightly. But you can't have it both ways SP.

It's 13 games, which is just over a third of a season, and you are outlining a doomsday scenario which is incredibly unlikely to happen. This is very different to starting a season with 1 striker.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

You're right, it takes 38 games for 2 players in the same position to get injured. How silly of me and the 20 prem managers. They should all be pointed in your direction for reassurance it'll never happen. And we've never had 2 players in the same position be injured recently before have we? I'm sure we could call on Salako to put Hennessy's massive gloves just like 25 years ago.

Palace 'desperate for strikers' in the transfer window. So what happened in the window. Well 3 strikers left Palace and one joined. One player only of those has PL experience and been part of a first team squad in the PL, that is Kalkai. Eagles have less cover for the front men, the opposite of what the managers stated needs, which he identified last October. No Eagles talent coming through, still, SP and DF not addressing the fundamental problems IMO.
