Only a very selfish and warped person would expect a 13 year old raped girl to go through to full term or a mum whose foetus has been diagnosed with severe physical and brain damage to do the same "life begins at conception" he says, and that that life is now "sacrosanct" no matter what. That is a religion talking not a rational human being.

You just hear what you want to hear.

I'm also against abolition. My views have shifted since I have become a father. However, this isn't down to any religious aspect. I also don't believe in forcing my views onto others as I don't believe the views of others should be forced onto me. These are personal things with many difficult and complex aspects to them. I would have it down to 10 or thereabouts which sounds severe but having seen the scans not at all irrational.

Na...I don't think that's fair...the nature of democracy is a different question. First past the post has its problems but it also has strengths. Proportional representation is more democratic but it also genuinely leads to nothing being done ever. Personally I view both systems as out of date but this is a whole different question for another thread.

Yep I think we agree.....I don't want to see the scans, I think I'd feel a bit sick. Life is unfairness. No abolition for my children but I don't get to decide for others beyond the democratic remit.

Think of your own children. Their precious lives could have been terminated while forming in the mothers womb. Leaving serious disease etc. for one moment, that is premeditated murder. Its worse when you think it is just for social convenience. Sick society we don't even know the start of it.

He says life begins at conception, presumably because he believes that to be sacred. So rape is as sacred as any conception.
