This is true, but you can also run the risk of excarbating iffy ideology by allowing it to flourish on social media etc.
Tis a moral conundrum.

But who decides if a particular ideology is 'iffy', though, eh? I'm not sure I'd trust anyone to be sufficiently impartial to make such a call. All sounds a bit totalitarian to me.

I was working at bus stations in central London during the week. Two of the supervisors I met, the only two out of five who bought up the referendum, were both Muslim. One Algerian, who's lived here for thirty years, the other British born, big beard, and participating in Ramadan. Both were voting leave, and the latter bought up how Arriva have set up training centres for bus drivers in Romanian villages to train drivers up before bringing them over here to work. He also said how where he lives (east London) has become crime ridden. The former said that long serving drivers earning £14 an hour are being gotten rid of as soon as they make any mistake, and being replaced by Europeans being paid £9 an hour. Both commented on how British people can't afford to work for these wages, as they have families and mortgages etc, and Europeans and other migrants can afford to work for low wages as they have low housing costs due to room sharing.

Are these two buying in to the 'poisonous narrative', or are their concerns genuine?

If a group is calling for the game against traitors to Britain Labour MP's to be upped and threatening to kill people, does that not step over the line?

Let one emerge and we'll see what happens.

Genuine concerns, however their ire should be aimed at the bus company not the people being trained abroad. It's not the Romanians fault however it wouldn't surprise me if it's spun as 'foreigners taking our jobs' .

From faceb**k...

Here he is, the 'quiet', 'timid' & 'lonely' gardener known as Thomas Mair, giving the Nazi salute.

Keep in mind, he's just a mentally ill man, his actions have nothing to do with being influenced by right-wing vilification of immigrants and refugees: the media told me so...

Thanks for answering.

Back to thread topic, some have said the crime wasn't political, but according to press reports 'Mair told police he was a “political activist” as he was arrested a mile from the scene, the prosecution said.'

I think there's a good chance that his links with hard right wing ideology alongside photos of Mair (if it was him) behind a Britain First banner shows him to be racist.
Although we all like the idea of free speech, should Britain First and their ilk be outlawed because of incitement to racial hatred?

Where was all this outpouring of indignation when all the other people were murdered by terrorists and nut cases in the last few months?

You seem to very very selectively outraged.

That doesn't really come as a surprise.

While you're right that the bus company are taking the piss, it's about as blatant an example of 'foreigners taking our jobs' as you're ever likely to find.

Sidestepping the issue again.

I criticized ISIS and the terrorists.
Now back to the current topic. What do you think of a nazi killing an MP who spoke out for refugees considering the background of anti immigrant, anti foreigner rhetoric in the national media?

More like 'foreigners being given our jobs' to save money I'd say.

There's no difference. You're splitting hairs. You and your brothers in the trade union movement should be very concerned at such a development.

Posting links from left wing sources is desperate stuff.
You are so so desperate to paint the leave campaign as racist that you will say anything.

All I have seen is empty meaningless words from people who are panicking because they are in danger of losing a race where they started as clear favorites.
And you have stooped to the lowest of the low by using the death of an innocent woman to make political gain.

Absolutely disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself Mr Gusset.
