Maybe im mistaken, but i got the impression it was going to be Basil Fawlty running establishment elsewhere.
falling foul of todays woke bollo?

According to the bbc, they will NOT be showing it & it is based 'abroad'.

Badger . . . 'Still Open All Hours'?

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Personal choice of course but I preferred the original, didn't think much of the remake.

The whole story is that Basil Fawlty runs Gary Lineker's asylum seekers Airbnb but I don't want to give too much away.

I have been trying to think of successful comedy re-boot which was at least as good as the original.

The only one that comes to mind is Whatever happened to the likely Lads which I think was better than The likely Lads.

Any others?

Yes. Mind you I think all but one of the originals was wiped so hard to judge, but the re-boot was excellent.

its a bad idea to revise perfection.

The Fab 4 did make the grave error of handing production to Jeff Lynn.

it's a vehicle for his daughter. No-ones even heard of her until she's lined-up to co-star in this.
Fawlty Towers is at the pinnacle of comedy, there's only one way this can go.

I disengage, I turn the page.

Certainly NOT the remake of 'The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin' !!

You would think that someone with the work history, talents & lifetime in the film industry connections of someone like John Cleese there would be a better way to go, Fawlty Towers was a classic in its time but a lot of the endearing comedy revolved around a cross between a kind of slapstick & stereotypical characters which JC carried with a wonderful energy which befitted the time, I feel that trying to reboot it now would be a mistake.

Can you imagine trying to reboot only fools & horses ?

There have been two or three American versions of Fawlty Towers. One of them, called Amanda's, starred Bea Arthur from The Golden Girls - Basil was written out as they thought he was "unsympathetic".
There was also an American version of One Foot in the Grave starring Bill Cosby who insisted his wife from The Cosby Show was in it, they had a couple of kids and the Victor character was slightly grumpy. Which kind of misses the point.

Somebody made that point that the last funny thing John Cleese did was a Fish Called Wanda and that was a very long time ago. It does not bode well.
