I think there will be more movement than some think, Maybe one or some of Luka , Kouyate, Ayew or Benteke out, and maybe Forward player, Right back, and another Midfielder in, just have a feeling. This is an area of concern for me. Joel Ward is not getting any younger and injuries at the stage of his career can take longer to mend.He was targeted by teams in some games. Clyne missed the whole of season 2019-20 due to injury, sustained another injury with us and has not played since February this year.I have not been overly impressed with him when he has worn the shirt. Ferguson has had a long-term injury and it will take him time to get match fit when he does return to training. He might never be good enough for us. Edited by Willo (31 Jul 2021 11.46am)

Just had another thought (Yup I know that's dangerous). The Mateta deal is we have to sign him after 15 PL club appearances from the start? Or at least that is the rumour. So far the jury is out unless there is a sudden improvement it is possible that we have to stop picking him as we don't want to buy that only leaves us with Benteke as a recognised striker. So we do need another striker just in case Mateta doesn't work out. The 15 games rule has never been confirmed, Transfermkt, i think a very reliable site, says he is already hours, but pay after 18 months

We have a number players who can play right back until hopefully Furg proves his fitness. I think we should offer Clyne a short term deal as he is a specialist Right Back but if not Tomkins, Kelly can do a short term job I therefore don't think its a priority. If Furg is not back by Jan we should look at a permanent replacement with Ward as backup. I would like to see at least 1 winger come in on a permanent deal to cover/replace Zaha and a young nippy striker who can play off Benteke or play as a lone striker we can use when defending a lead Edited by Palace in the Blood (31 Jul 2021 12.29pm)

Yep, sounds familiar But watching his goals in Germany, he must improve, surely, or maybe Palace is just a graveyard for goal scorers

Transfers are for the longer term (loans aside), not the first game, week, month or sometimes even season that immediately follows a window. We only know how good any window was years later, when the contribution of the signed players can be assessed over the course of thier contract. In the short term I'm not convinced the team that will start the season is noticeably stronger than the one that finished the last. Andersen could start, as could Gallagher (Chelsea aside) but that won't change our world. Guehi, Olise and Ferguson have only played championship football so far, and are totally unproven. This window has been about planting seeds, and the benefits are some way off. All of which is fine by me. The club needs to box clever, invest in youth, develop assets etc, and that is a long term plan requiring patience and good enough senior players to keep you stable as the youth is gradually introduced. It isn't a spectacular instant upgrade, and anyone expecting one may be disappointed. I'd rather Eze, Olise and ferguson were fit to play of course, but I'm not convinced a side relying on them, Gallagher, Guehi, Rak-Sahki and Mitchell would see us through the season. Some of these will need to come in and out of the side for a year or two, one or two won't actually be better than the relative journeymen we hope they replace, and at least one won't make it at all. The point is to have a balanced well structured squad that we keep evolving over time, not to click our fingers and get a noticeably better team on one go.

Michy Batshuayi would now be the ideal player for Palace, Not suited at all to Roy's style but ideal in Vieira's style, you would probably get him for 10m now, he is on last year of contract. and his wages would be greatly reduced I just cannot see Benteke fitting in, i know he has his supporter's, and i hope he does well, but i think now is the time to get some money back for him
