Cahill - I would want to keep him ( if it was my choice) for his experience (as a player, a role model to the younger lads & a future coach) & his commitment to the cause, at his age he will have to make some decisions soon as to what he is going to do after he stops playing, I would want him to be part of our set up rather than someone else's

Got laughed out of town here this time last year for suggesting that Kouyate could be a longer term solution at CB and think time has shown he is as good an option as any we have. But if he goes to CB we are short in midfield and vice versa. He'd be a useful player to clone but I assume he will be in midfield this time. Valid point mad eon other thread that CB is a spot where depth is needed given nature of the role and well Tomkins! Originally posted by Lanzo-Ad
With Guehi, Tomkins, Kouyate, Kelly, and Rich-Baggypants (midlands name) do we really need Cahill

Given the supposed strong relationship between CK & PV it will be interesting to see how that develops / where he plays this season - I thought RH moved CK into the back line because of injuries & whatever was going on with Martin Kelly - Presumably who we sign / in what positions / who is injury free at the start of the season - will also come into consideration -

Players arriving from big clubs understandably wanted to avoid a drastic pay cut, but as a result we end up with Benteke on two or three times what Ayew gets, Sakho the same with Tompkins, Clyne the same with Ward etc. If the figures above are accurate, perhaps Townsend was on twice what Eze was getting too. It must have occurred to each of the lesser paid players that they were contributing more than their better paid counterparts. The club would be far healthier not only with a reduced wage bill, but with a more coherently structured one. Show each player that performance will be rewarded so that the likes of Eze and Olise have personal incentive, and show the group that average performance levels will not lead to renewing inflated contracts.

Not sure it was £35k a week it might be slightly less but sensibly it is weighted on appearances. He is rumoured to being looked at by Rangers, does he want to play in the freezing cold for half the year for a few quid more? We'll see!!!

Exactly and we also cant afford to have players like Sakho and Wickham earning millions from the comfort of the injury room. The older they get the more prone to injury they are and the longer it takes for them to recover.

The issue surely would be whether he moves his family?
