An excellent shout. Just put a post on the Meet our New Manager thread saying all of those that are possible and linked with us have drawbacks that make them unappealing and we should look elsewhere. This is an excellent choice.

It didn't work out for Claudio at Fulham, but they all have their successes and failures, I think the Fulham job puts people off, but the more I think of this the more the idea seems a good one. If there are betting moves I may keep the to myself after the last experience, I've been in shock for two days. Ranieri took over at Fulham with the club bottom of the table on 5 pts after 12 games. He was at Fulham for 16 PL games during which they collected 12 pts and when he departed they were 19th in the table. They went down that season.

Would be an excellent appointment. Certainly has all the tactical knowledge, man management and experience. I also think he’s the type of name that would attract all types of players ie younger and older. I’m just not sure we could attract him. He’s the type who could land a big 6 job across the main leagues if one of them has a bad start etc

What has unfolded since he left has been a shambles but I am still firmly of the belief that he should have been far firmer with the board in terms of contract renewals and the renovation of the squad over the last two seasons. The squad he has left us with is a complete mess and, although it's down to a lack of investment, he should have been firmer in fighting against it as far as I'm concerned.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

What did you expect him to do, it wasnt his remit to buy players, just manage the team. The reality he got the best out of what he had. In fact most of the squad, when he arrived are still there. He didnt give them all long contracts.

Yes maybe Roy, should have been more firm with the board. Possibly after six months, in much the same way as Pulis, and Big Sam ,were . It wouldn’t have made any difference because as they did he would have walked. Because few boards cave in to a manager.
