We are a great club for someone to step up from Champ, but not a great option for someone with Prem experience. Still think Lampard is the one that makes the most sense. If new manager lasts first year, the academy is progressing nicely and there is budget available.

Wouldn't be surprised, if we approach Scott Parker..Had a years experience with Fulham in the Premier, didn't really have a good enough squad to start with. I am sure he gained from the experience.

Guess I'm naive, but amidst all the money, conditions, support staff and concerns about contracts and the 'pensioner' playing staff, I'd really like to hear of someone who is falling over himself to manage Palace as an opportunity, rather than the short straw!

Hows about finding an American to manage us, might loosen our owners purse strings a little. Brian Schmetzer of Seattle Sounders for example.

Why are people mentioning Ishmail, Cooper or now Scott Parker ?? The first 2 have done nothing & are no better than Holloway, who don't forget did actually manage to win a play off final & then couldn't cut it.
Scott Parker looks quite naive at this level.
As an earlier poster said, SP and the board have done well, walking away from NES & need to be trusted. After all, maybe there is a left field appointment lurking - it was a car crash but 4 years ago, did anyone really see F de B being appointed until it was announced ??

Palace have, or maybe parish has a reputation... we will need a manager that wants to be challenged, but that challenge also includes a s*** budget.

we have to be looked at as a new promoted club ready to move forward in the league.. I feel someone with championship pedigree first and foremost... heck I would even take pardew back.

This was once a quality forum....

Agree or not with our chairman, he has the club's welfare above everything.
We'll get a manager and I am pretty (100%) sure Steve P. had very good reasons to go no further with the Portugese.

I'm sure that there are plenty that would fall into that category but I doubt whether we have approached any of them as they wouldn't be suitable

I sincerely hope that this isn't the case as no highly experienced football manager would like to be told how to set up and run his team by someone who is basically a PR man

It just seems to me we try and do things on the cheap, squeeze the maximum from the candidate, which puts them of coming, instead of just agreeing,l know we would like the best, but we don't half seem to haggle, doesn't seem to happen so much with other clubs?

Personally I wanted Nuno here but if a club like Everton, who seem to throw money around, have been put off by his demands it would appear SP made the right call

I'm just speculating but if this happened SP was probably right to walk away.

Nuno looks a great manager but he was given a massive budget at Wolves and bought a number of top Portuguese players. He will not have the contacts or budget at Palace

Nuno did play a back 4 at Wolves when required, I am sure the breakdown was purely due to ridiculous demands. I believe we are looking for a manager who is able to play 3 or 4 at the back ( subject to us actually signing new defenders). The acadeyteams have often been playing a back 3.

Steve has shown over time that he cares deeply about Palace and he will only make an appointment if its right for the club. We don't have the mega bucks to throw around.

For a deal to work it has to suit both parties and this couldn't be reached with Nuno.

In Parish, I trust. I have a feeling it will end up being Dougie - perhaps the timing of the documentary release was part of his plan B all along.
