Yes if you went to a game and obviously missed the football results at the end of grandstand or world of sport, we had to wait till the Sunday papers to get the other results. I used to leave my mum a pen and pad to get her to scribble down as many as she could when I was on my way home from selhurst, she failed miserably every week bless her Edited by monkey (23 May 2021 11.44am) Are you sure it was a pad and not the '1-2-X' column on the back page of the newspaper?

Remember this game well, mostly for seeing Tony Finnigan playing left-back with a number 9 on his back.

I remember the pain very well and the thought of loosing to Grimsby on a cold foggy Friday night is probably the driving force that got us to the place we are and feel bad about today so if you are not happy --- do you really want to go back !!!!

We were on an equal footing back then, Palace were a bigger club overall but even in the games at your place crowds were very low mid 80's. We'd finished 4th in 83/84 before the playoffs were a thing. Sadly nearly 20 years of mismanagement has had us in the Conference twice, even though we've still spent more years in the second tier than any other level. Originally posted by davidmyboy

I seem to recall a kind of documentary in the mid-70s that featured an 'access all areas' to a game against Grimsby, or so I thought. We went 3 up before conceding 3 to end up drawing! A quick check suggests it wasn't Grimsby that we played however.

[Link] If not the seaon before we drew 3-3 with Plymouth and the one before that 3-3 with Cardiff. Edited by Pikester (11 Jun 2021 10.33am)
