Younger, better, more potential in the next 2-4-years. These aren't out-of-the-question ingredients of players needed for a squad overhaul. As sensible people have said, we need to keep some established players for consistency during major changes. I think the likes of Cahill, McArthur, Townsend would do a lot for embedding new players in a Palace ethos (not a Roy ethos!). A bit like when we came up from the Championship - there was new blood and we retained some of the personalities who had been on the journey for a while.

One issue is that we are not going to get much for any of the players we may look to offload ( and nothing if they are out of contract), and, as such we are likely to have to spend a lot more on replacements than we get for those going out the door ... unless we are extremely lucky with picking up some quality out of contract players from other clubs. Because of this I am not sure we will see the major clear-out and rebuild we might like to see.

Wickham, Sakho, Dann, and then Benteke and PVA if they decide to move on would on their own save a small fortune in salaries and I’m guessing one of Milo, or the two Macs is going to move on. I agree we will be looking at players out of contract rather than splashing the cash but at least we know we would have the salaries covered.

Our overall losses on just Sakho and Benteke are going to work out at as much as a year's TV deal. Our major source of income.

I wouldn't assume Benteke will be leaving. If he continues to put in half-decent performances he may well be offered and accept an extension and the club can then defer the write-off for him for another year at least. Benteke's cost should already have been written off in the accounts

I know this has been mentioned many times but for clarification Schlupp, Kelly and McArthur are not out of contract this summer. They signed extensions last August when they were in their final year (so June 2021 end) so the extension takes them to 2022 at the earliest (the length of the extensions were not confirmed). The contract websites have not updated accordingly, probably as the details weren't announced. Still a big summer regardless

The amount of players out of contract at the end of the season is well known already. One question that I dont think has been posed. Is this by design from the club ? Or more likely, an absence of planning, thinking that players will resign on.lower terms. Leaving them to completely walk away.

My concern would be if were stupid enough to extend his contract on the current reported salary 120K/per week then that would cost us just a tad under 6.240 mil over 12 months and he is not worth it, so he must go along with Sakho two of the worst buys Parish has ever made!
