Very sad news. I think he may have played in the first Palace match I saw in 1964. I certainly remember seeing him play many times during his second stint with the club.

I remenber him in his first spell with us,particularly in a 5th round cup tie with Forest. He was very fierce but at the same time could dribble and pass. Hodgson would have loved him in his side. His partnership eith Cliff Holton thst day won the match, remember Forest were a pretty big First Division side. I will not forget that match

Sad news, saw Bobby in both his spells at Palace. A competitive midfielder who could put a foot in if it was needed and could look after himself. RIP.

He was a stocky player. Used to run around a lot and often ran the game. Don’t seem to get that type anymore. Reminded me of Dave Mackay. The game has become so much faster and way gentler. Solid players just aren’t there nowadays. RIP.

Bobby really was excellent, very combative, but could play a bit too, always gave 100%.

I will not forget that match For me there are three particularly memorable games that I attended in the 1960s. The Fulham game in 1969 when we won promotion to Div.1. And then two other games both of which Bobby was playing in - the last game of 63/64 against Oldham when we were promoted from Div.3 (even though we lost the match) and the Forest 5th round cup tie when we beat 1st Div, opponents 3-1.

I saw Bobby in both his spells at Palace but he was much more impressive in the first one in my opinion (to be fair not many were impressive in 71-72 and 72-73 seasons). The excellent book "Crystal Palace player by player", which I got for Xmas after seeing it advertised on here, gives his record as follows: 4/9/63 - 25/11/65 played 88 goals 6 A long time ago but I remember him as a short, stocky left footed midfielder with an excellent tackle.

This should’ve been more of a headline than the Wolves match highlights on the club website.
