Would like to see PVA higher up in the starting line-up with young Michell as left back. Not understand why this has never been tried!

Secondly, you make it sound like the club are somehow at fault for not letting a player have everything his way, if what you say is true. Why should they ? He's signed a big money contract, he should honour it.

I remember reading an interview from him I think during Jan 2020 (so almost a year ago) and he was very much leaving the door fully wide open to go back to the Netherlands. This also coincided with one of the main Dutch teams (think it was PSV) being linked with him, so he was very much flirting. I understand his contract is up summer 2021 and whilst I'm a fan of his, I can't deny he's been absolutely woeful this season. We have 3 options: sell in Jan 21, let him go for free at the end of the season or give him a new contract. To me it's a cost benefit analysis situation to continue with PVA till summer and/or beyond and he's simply been underperforming pretty much all season. We need to start generating transfer kitty and he's an "asset" which can still bring in a bob or two... Same goes for Mccarthy!

Before I go any further can i just say that PVA was horrendous against Villa and Liverpool and the gaps left exposed at the back were huge, the third goal was in excusable. However I don’t think we can just blame PVA, it is easy to blame the individual but the problems are inherent in the system and the way we have played recently, this is a link to the heat map for Ward and PVA on Saturday. [Link] PVA is told to get forward, he either gives an option to Eze and others or takes the fullback/ covering wide midfielder out of the equation allowing space for Eze/Wilf or anyone else to work in. 45% of attacks are down the left hand side and PVA, whoscored [Link] has him as the most key passes per game for last season and is 4th behind Townsend, Eze and Wilf for this season. He is an important part of our attacking play We can play Mitchell but he won't get forward as much as PVA and Eze will be left isolated. More likely Schlupp if any replacement he is not as adventurous as PVA but can get forwrd , if Clyne then comes back in with Townsend on the right we will have more attacking scope down both wings and better balance
