Another AWB it is then. Except this time we won't get 50m for him. It'll be a shame if true but hard to compete when the big clubs come sniffing. Not that I think it's the right move for such a young player, surely it's better to try and get some games under his belt before getting swallowed up by a big club where it's easy to get lost amongst other top prospects. Time will tell I guess.

If the lads signed with this agent he only has one intention. So bye bye. Very few make it from that age, he’ll get ruined chasing the money at his age. Shame he hasn’t got parents or a support network advising him better. I suppose however when you find yourself in that situation with a top agent promising you the world it’s not quite so easy to turn down. The other side of the coin is, with our lack of pathways for young players he probably thinks whats the point. We all know awb and Mitchell am were out of necessity not choice. this is non-comparable to Bostock imo. We nicked him from Millwall and he was born in Italy so no particular surprise he has a European view of his next step in football if that's his heritage. From what I've read Raiola has a 1-year deal with the lad, which means it's obviously to find him a new club pronto.

Edited by MonsterMunch (24 Jan 2021 9.48am) Did you read the article ? The part that said ''90min has learned that Palace even envisaged Atta making the first-team bench within the next 12 months '' ?? He's 16 - if we can agree that Hodgson does not promote youth - I would contend that by the time he's ' ready ' there will likely be another manager at Palace.

It’s your prerogative to believe that if you wish.

He is not going to play here until he is over 23, so why not go. Tottenham played a 16 year old in the cup, we did not bring any youngsters in. Stay with Palace and you might get loaned out to Tranmere or Torquay. Sends a message, says it all. Good luck to you fella, hope it works out better than Bostock.

There have been loads of 16 year old breaking through in other teams. Never here, certainly not recently.

According to those that watch the development squad regularly there aren't any players there good enough for our first team and if the two that were loaned out to Tranmere and Torquay were good enough they would have been loaned to clubs in higher divisions. My understanding is that the current under 23 squad contains players that might make it at a lower level plus those that won't make it at all but the future is with the under 18 squad some of whom are highly thought of and I really can't see Parish spending all that money on upgrading the academy and employing a manager that won't utilise the players as the whole idea of the academy is to save on transfer fees in the future

Looking at our squads, Atta isn't even in the U18s. Should he have been? No idea. Our U18s (and apparently the younger squads) are exciting prospects, We will inevitably lose some who either can't wait to progress or are star-struck by bigger clubs purportedly interested in them. Once we start seeing players from the U18s etc. progressing to the first team squad and staying there, more youngsters may be prepared to stay, but that is probably a couple of years or so down the line. We just have to hope we can retain our PL status until we see the fruit from the Academy investment. Touch and go imo. Hope Atta makes a good choice when he does leave.

I'm getting on in years, so my memory isn't as good as it was - who are the '' loads of 16 year old '' you are referring to ? And '' never here, certainly not recently '' - well which it it ? I haven't seen Atta play, but I'm interested in your opinion as you clearly have if you can guarantee that he can pass the ball better than some of our highly experienced first teamers.
