Yes he is, but his talents are fading. I wouldn’t mind seeing us shell out for Conor Gallagher if Chelsea will let him go permanently however. He is just the sort of player we need.

playing 2 centre mids this season rather than the 3 we've gone with the last few seasons has highlighted the importance of at least one really good passer. The Newcastle game highlighted the weakness of Koyuate and Jimmy Mac as a combination - no creativity and limited range of passing. Jairo and Luka are clearly the best passers we have in this position, so 1 of these 2 needs to play every game. Luka hasn't been great since he got his new long term contract, however, is getting back to his best. He is an important player for us - when on his game

Well past his best, has lost a yard in speed which now makes his tackles look very suspect. Always looks like he will get sent off . In my opinion he needs to be moved on and replaced.

To be fair, he never had speed. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. But I reckon you're writing him off prematurely. I guess only time will tell.

Full credit to him...he's come in and done well after a stop-start season. Has taken an awful lot of stick on here recently...and some deservedly so after a patch of poor form. But I intentionally have been watching him over the past couple of games and think he makes a big difference. Tackles, interceptions, blocks, breaking up play...don't think it's a coincidence we've taken 4 points since he's been back. Well done skipper. Keep it up. This post has aged very poorly. It’s not a coincidence that our better performances this season have come when Luka was on the sideline. Admittedly the whole team were terrible today but Luka stood out as one of the worst. If you have to sub your skipper when you’re losing that’s a clear sign he’s not cut out for the job.

to be honest...i feel sorry for luca. unless your kante/makalele/petit a dmf’s work is on the whole going to go unheralded. he gets a lot of bookings, thats part & parcel or that role, most of those bookings are going to be calculated to stop a dangerous attack. he probably sees the ball more than any other outfield player due to his location on the pitch, especially given our tendancy to recycle possession quite a lot. personally, i like him, and i would be pretty sure the other players enjoy having his tenacity out there with them.
