Roy should have gone after the Newcastle game, I watched the West Brom v Sheff Utd game yesterday, two poor teams who will struggle to stay up, but was impressed with the quality and amount of crosses from wide during the game, how they must have wished for a player like Benteke to nod them in, hang on, we have him, why we not putting decent crosses in for him, once Roy goes, which he has to sooner than later, how about Roberto Martinez to replace him, his boss with Belgium, who seems to get the best out of Benteke, and he might utilise Meyer better than Roy hasn't done.

Martinez must be ready now to return to the prem league, money talks...

I am not convinced that Martinez would forego his job as national manager of the No 1 rated team containing world class players to pick up the reins at a club with a stadium which has long been in need of an upgrade, at a club where significant re-building will be necessary to replace a plethora of aged players who have precious little re-sale value and where it is likely significant funds will not be available to him.

I suspect he will return to the PL some day but I dare say other clubs will be a more attractive proposition. In any event when he is ready to return to the PL we might not be in it!

Banks, Kirby and Mitchell, if still at the club, will only be first team regulars if we return to the Championship and given the way things are currently and given the imminent run of fixtures, looks a real possibility this year. Benteke after his initial season for us cannot suddenly have become a poor player and remember also he then had a prolonged period of injury. He is clearly a confidence player and as fans, naturally we are not party to what goes on behind closed doors. Batshuayi also who was viewed as an exciting signing at the start of the season, has so far totally flattered to deceive. Maybe their national team manager could get them both firing. So Steve it is very much now the time to act, at least Martinez, unlike the previous European failure, is proven and what is also very important, a bigger ground and the much-vaunted new academy will carry much less significance in the Championship.

Ah yes, beat WBA, just like we did against Burnley and Newcastle. Well firstly it would put us on 16 points which, given the games to follow, is a very good thing. It would also improve slightly Hodgson's stats for 2020. Here's hoping!

It is indeed time for Steve to act. It's time for him and the yanks to put their hands in their pockets.

Genuine question, how is Roberto Martinez proven as opposed to Roy?

Their premier league stats aren't that different.

Would you trust Roy to use the players purchased? And just as importantly, correctly? I wouldn’t

What a load of rubbish. The players play for Crystal Palace, most of them on high wages, shouldn't matter who the manager is once they get out on the pitch. Their professional pride should ensure they give their best.

You are right but it is not uncommon for a manager to “ lose the dressing room”. Didn’t Delaney speak to SP about FDB? Has happened to many teams over the years

I think he's done OK over the last three seasons. We need two more attacking players - winger and young dynamic midfield player and a young centre back.

The summer's efforts weren't good enough. Felt that at the time and reinforced now.

Martinez at least would like his teams to cross the halfway line during a game, and plays attractive football, are we not all bored with the dross we have had to watch at home for the last few years..
