I think Clyne has been woeful. His marking of players is slow and he doesn't look the fastest. I'd rather have Ward who's positioning i think is much better.

I think Clyne's recent impact on Palace has gone under the radar a little: No fireworks, just defensive consistency, which is exactly what we need.

He offers great defensive solidity - where Ward lacks, tactical nous, has the speed to get himself out of trouble and provides support in the attacking half.

It will take more time to integrate and adjust, but he's already proven real astute signing. Well done to management!

Think you’re on your own with this one mate.

Agree, great signing, but not seen anywhere near the best from him yet which is understandable.

On a short term contract to provide emergency cover. Both Ward and eventually Ferguson will be ahead of him. Unless he shows a drastic improvement expect him to be gone by earliest January and end off season at latest.

Thought he could have done better with Branford’s goal on Saturday. He got across to Banford then didn’t do anything, maybe he thought he was second to win the ball and might concede a pen. He’ll do for now but personally I prefer Wardy.

Agree with sentiment but I think he was actually pretty terrible against Leeds, awful positioning, hesitated for the Bamford goal that counted and was dreadful on the ball.
Having said all that, I love him and will be happy if he plays every week.

I actually think van Aanholt has been the problem. He likes to get forward which pulls the centre halves out of position when were are countered. That also leaves Clyne exposed.

I feel that Mitchell is better defensively but perhaps a little less cohesive going forward.

It will take him a while to get back into what is required, I 5hought Wardy was playing ok so far this season, but I feel they are both miles behind AWB class wise...

When he is up against a quality wide man Clyne will struggle.

Agree PVA causes massive huge problem's, Mitchel should be where he is and when Ferguson becomes fit he's on the other side, meanwhile we have to put up with what we have which is PVA all over the place and Clyne struggling to get back to anything like he was.

PVA links up with Zaha and Eze brilliantly though, it's a horrible problem.

Not only that, we moan that we don’t get enough players in the opposition box but PVA constantly gets forward causing problems. Thought against Leeds it was him pushing forward that caused them greater problems than if Mitchell had played? It’s a good dilemma to have and I prefer at the moment PVA being selected?

remember his winning goal at old trafford last season? 93rd min and he is in the opposition box scoring a goal!

I do like PVA getting forward!

The way that many sides play by blocking central spaces attacking full backs are very useful.
They are sometimes the only players with space on the field to operate.
I’m of the opinion that we look better as an attacking team when PVA plays.
His overlaps help take the markers away from Wilf.
If PVA was a very good defender as well he’d possibly with. Champions League Club.
I hope Mitchell works out but at the moment he’s promising.
He has a tendency to allow crosses.
Ward is still a reliable and consistent defender without offering much going forward.
I’m hoping Clyne will improve as he increases his fitness levels.
As to Ferguson, that’s anybody’s guess.
