I fear the stand will never happen ! We are certainly missing a trick by not getting it done now ! It’s all very strange as when planning permission was granted we new the hurdles we had to jump over to get it sorted but still years later we are no closer to getting it sorted !!!!

You just know they’re going to want to start building it shortly after full capacity crowds are allowed back in the stadiums

It's been covered elsewhere, but the new stand can't start until the club finds the land nearby to provide as much or more new housing as that being lost when the houses in Wooderson Close are demolished. If anyone has a suitably large plot of undeveloped land in the urban area, I'm sure the club would be keen to hear from you. The RFU got away with ignoring their planning consent to build houses with 48 new bedroom spaces when they built the new south stand. They were meant to build houses with double the amount of bedrooms they looked down. LB Richmond recognise a good deal for the area when they see one. Squabbling over adding a couple of extra houses in Croydon seems typical of Croydon Council. Missing out on huge investment and lots of jobs for some more social housing when far too many s*** flats are going up already in the borough.

It may be that it wasn't Croydon Council but GLA being unreasonable in terms of housing and S106.

I don’t know if this is meaningful in any way but a new development is being built in Pampisford Road on the outskirts of Purley and the hoardings outside have large Crystal Palace FC badge murals on it. It may just be the developers are Palace fans or it could be the site Is for the replacement housing required before the 6 properties at Wooderson Close can be demolished. If I get the time I’ll scour the planning office records for applications.

Its been a long time for us to wait... Having fans in the stadium was never an issue as they were going to build above the old stand like the dippers did.

Palace need approval from GLA but I suspect that we aren't pushing that hard as the American owners are unlikely to invent in the stand when they are apparently wanting to sell their shares. Who would invent in a football club during a pandemic? If we have mass unemployment, we could be down to 15,000 crowds with no need to replace the old stand.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

There is more chance of Benteke scoring a hatrick than there is of the main stand being rebuilt anytime soon.
