At halftime I suspect many of us were "satisfied." We'd played solid tactical defense and had conserved plenty of energy for the second half. Chelsea's early goal, on an ugly mistake, upended our "plans" for a scoreless draw or perhaps a lucky 1-0 victory. Deflated, we played lethargic. So, yes, it was a terrible 45 minutes. I think Roy's only reason for calling on Luka was to placate the former captain facing two long weeks of training. I wasn’t satisfied at half time - thought we were poor throughout and Chelsea upped a gear and Sakho helped them in the second half. Awful performance from majority of our players who looked lethargic in the 1st half also and no help from Hodgson / Lewington in the setting up of that team.

If anyone can solve the puzzle we will be top six End of first half most people I would think had an expectation a hard earned draw or pinch a goal.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

As long as we play two non-creative (although hard working) midfielders (McCarthy and MacArthur), there is no chance that our strikers get into the game. Chelsea took us to pieces most of the time - Eze was the only one taking on the opposition.

Wilf was in sulk mode due to thinking he wouldn't be moving anywhere. This 2 week break has come at the right time for us, and him.

Agree Wilf was in sulk mode yesterday but was it because he probably won't be getting the move he craves or, like me, sulking because of our set up and lack of threat? Palace are bloody hard to watch in games like that, but I suspect it would be much harder to play up front for us in those games. I'll wait a few more games to decide if it was the former or latter.

Hard hard watch. Hodgson admitted we didn't offer anything upfront and yet stuck with the same old "trusted" game plan. Yes Sakho was awful but when you're being battered constantly mistakes will happen sooner or later. We need a plan b and c. It has been said by many of us for a long long time now. In reply the lack of squad depth has been cited time and again for the one dimensional game plan. We have spent well this summer but its going to take a more. An out and out, in the box striker would help imo. Batsman, Ayew, Zaha are not that ( and no I have not forgotten Benteke). In midfield we have creativity in meyer. Unfortunately his confidence has been waning over the past year aka read Sorloth. He must play more and definitely feature in a plan c if not b. You hear everywhere from everybody, you know what you're going to get with a Hodgson side. The question now is how long are we going to be happy with just survival. Is it worth the risk?

Meyer has done almost nothing to justify a starting place in the side, maybe too easily knocked off the ball. Bats is an out-and-out box striker. The conundrum is finding some creativity in our midfield. Truth is our best 11 is being played and we would need to upgrade most of our defence and defensive mid to play one short with a new player better at creating than defending.

Well you obviously didn't watch the game then, because if you did you couldn't possibly not understand why people were reacting the way they are....or do you think we should role over like that every time we play one of the big boys
