When Freedman was our manager, I'm sure he once said Wilf was a centre forward in the making ... ???

I'm pretty sure that Zaha wanted to play centre forward for England U21s. I believe he may even have played there a couple of times for them.

Our team was set up to defend in numbers just like last season.. Roy hasnt the balls to have a go at Chelsea....

Maybe hes realised after Roy's comments that he wont be getting a transfer and has reverted to the wilf from last season. Certainly looked like it today

As someone with coaching experience, I think that, for most squads, having good leadership – in the form of a captain or veteran players – makes a huge difference. I fear there's no one on the squad who fits the bill at the moment.

Sorry but Wilf can’t motivate himself half the time let alone anybody else.

Club captain needs to be a leader and motivator on and of the pitch....Wilf has many talents but these are not 2 of them.

It was a desperate and stupid idea making him club captain......he is clearly still desperate to leave.

He’s not club captain as Roy has said on multiple occasions. He is the most senior pro who is fit and in the 11 at the moment. Luka, Dann, Cahill and Tomkins are ahead of him.

Wilf can be inspirational, but from the comments already made, he surely lacks the qualities expected of a match captain. But I share what was his obvious frustration with the Chelsea game. Hardly any service and he along with Ayew moved to and fro across the pitch, trying to close down - reminiscent of those early computer ping pong games! Hodgson has had some successes with the defensive system, but when it doesn't work, it's like watching the Alamo. No shots on target again? Just feel it's rather sad that football has reached the point where the big boys have so much money, so much better players, that the game USUALLY hardly rates as a contest. Yes, it's great when the big boys do come unstuck.
