We still have a small squad even with the new additions. The last thing we should do is let go a very good (my opinion) wide player. We need a squad not just a first 11, and I think he's been pretty good in the first few warm up matches He is a very very good wide player playing in a team who has struggled to make any use of any ball played into the box, Townsend is still the player that was picked to play for our national side ...a decent striker will highlight this.

A good squad player in my book, shouldn’t be a regular starter . His work rate can’t be faulted but his football skills can definitely be faulted.

What Townsend needs to do is score more goals which he doesn't personally I like Townsend I fear he will be the one that sits on the bench every week but definitely a good squad player

The criticism surprises me. Experienced and intelligent player. Better winger than Ayew in my opinion and should have been a starter last season. Doesn’t have explosive pace but makes up for that with his creativity and rarely loses the ball. He carries a goal threat too.

I don't think he is a starter as he doesn't create enough however a dependable good squad player who wont let you down. I can see why Roy likes him. Its possible that with out new attacking line up he may find his form again.

Been a very good player for us, will be sorry to see him leave but that's progress. Too expensive for a bench warmer.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Disagree with him not loosing the ball, I think that’s something that has become part of his game more and more. Cuts in and gets tackled where it would be easier to pass. He is slow to release the ball and play other players in, which is evident from zaha’s strops that he throws whenever he doesn’t receive it, and often makes runs where there is no space. I personally think he’s past it and would like to see him replaced as a full time first teamer currently, but maybe he will look better when we actually have a striker Edited by Jaha (10 Sep 2020 8.10am)

Moved Zaha from his more effective right side to the left side of the pitch for him, as without his cut and shoot jobby he knew he didn't have much else to offer. One trick horse that eventually found some ground in our team and had some solid runs, but has had his time and would love an upgrade.

I hope he stays, scored some great goals for us against city ect. I think because he's form has dropped some palace fans want to get rid but with the competition from eze and co he should fight for his place. I remember Ward,Kelly and Dann getting stick from fans but i wouldn't get rid of them.

Poor last year when played, compared to the previous season when his work rate and forward play was excellent.
