GuitaWard-Dann-Kouyate-Mitchell

McArthur-Riederwald

Townsend - Schlupp

Zaha

Ayew

I think we will start with this as the others are injured

Eze might get a place on the bench and luka not ready as Roy said on Saturday

I agree with most but I reckon he will swap Riedewald for McCarthy.

A week is a long time in football, especially during a transfer window.

I'll wait till Friday and see who's available then - we might have signed a couple more (lol) or, one of our existing players may have managed to injure themselves in training (far more likely)!

Think this is pretty much what we can expect to see. Would not be too unhappy with a draw, hoping the injured players start thinking about a return.

Batshuayi is going to be quality up top for us with Eze and Zaha in the team!

Possibly, but not against Saints he/they wont.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Townsend has looked ropey to me in the pre season friendlies. Has to continually change direction when better just running forward. Suspect with Eze unlikely to start will be in the starting 11.

Was that a guess that he was going to sign (as it looks like he will)? Any other guesses? (*dials bookies...*)

A French centre back and another championship winger to join in the very near future...

Lineup

Guaita
Ward, Kouyate, Dann, Mitchell
McArthur, Riederwald
Townsend, Schlupp
Ayew, Zaha

So just what Dangerclose said.

Then...

On half - sub McArthur or Riederwald for Luka

On 70 - Schlupp or Townsend for Eze
On 80 - other midfielder comes off for Mayer

However - if we get Bats today or tomorrow - possible sub Townsend for Bats with Ayew dropping back on 70. Mayer doesn't feature.

Result - halftime down 1-0, fulltime 1-1 draw

Guaita
Ward Kouyate Dann Mitchell
McCarthy Riedewald
MacArthur
Ayew Zaha Schlupp

Basic 4-5-1 from last season. Think front 3 will rotate a fair bit with Wilf being more central than before with Ayew being wider.

Not sure the 4-4-2 preseason was anything more than fitting the players available into a system - most of our central mids were out after all.

Should Bats arrive at some point Wilf moves back left and Bats goes more central perhaps.

I expect it to be pretty similar to what we played against Brondby.

—————Guaita—
-
Ward—Dann—Kouyate—Mitchell
-
————Macca——Jairo
-
Ayew———————————Eze

————Schlupp——Wilf

I can see McCarthy or Luka being drafted in for Jairo but imo that’s harsh. He’s looking good and he needs game time to continue to develop. I think he could be a long term successor in midfield if he gets the chance.
