I thought that all the money SP earns from the club goes back into the club / academy?

We have previously paid too much for players and agreed wages that are too high. It has worked, as we are still in the Premier League, but to be sustainable we need a new AWB to be sold every other year.

Covid could work in our favour, on the one hand we have a reduced income but hopefully new contracts will be lower in the future. West Ham bought Bowen from Hull for £22 million and wages of £80k a week. If he were on sale now I suspect the wages would be a lot less.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

The flip side is we over paid for non performers and also overpaid generally on wages.

You only have to look at other PL clubs to see this is a fact.

We lucked out on AWB financially and to a degree Bolasie.

Apart from these two no system of developing players as for example Southampton seem to do and generate a revenue stream.

General consensus is without new income stream, which would seem to only be possible by a sale we will inevitably be relegated in the next couple of seasons and the old squad / high wage picture will be the main reason.

Ayew became a much better player under Roy and Ray and we lucked out a bit there too.

We will likely find it hard to unload our high wage earners.

Hard to see anyone matching wages of Sakho and Benteke, Meyer would want a good part of any transfer fee as he is unlikely to be offered same wages elsewhere.

With Wilf who knows, maybe after last night PSG may want a game changer player.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

SP has 15% ish -Americans 60% of which 15% each for Harris and Blitzer and 30% through one of their companies.The other 25% owned by original funding shareholders Martin Long Steve Browett and Jeremy Hoskins.They would between them and SP I believe have to put the original £60 mill they got personally back in to the club to build the stand which is why it will prob not be built until some fairy godfather buys them out ..Unlikely especially if SP wants to remain with shares and/or chairman on the wages he is on.The Americans won’t invest in players unless it comes from “league place money” or sales,even then that has not happened over recent windows.It does seem crazy as we are hurtling to the Championship when the value of the club will drop like a stone,but it appears a power standoff between SP and the Americans.Perhaps he is hoping for reinvestment in the January window after an abysmal start and when we are looking down the barrel of relegation and they finally wake up to to the reality of the championship and reduced chances of selling their shares.At least the traffic will be lighter with small crowds,and there maybe some goal excitement!

Whilst this is true we are almost completely reliant on TV money what happens if that goes down?

I know it will impact the other clubs as well but that is why the rebuilding of the stadium is so important you should not just rely on one income stream.

Indeed. Also what does “the right owners” mean? Ones that would allow him to continue as at present? I suppose we mere mortals may never know
