If you read the above article it shows that basically where we are is a club is about right. Most of our income is tv money and financially we are a lower mid table premier league club.

We just buy from word of mouth or who we are offered. This has to come down to Dougie. For me, he is not the answer to transfers. But facilities too. A player comes to our offices in a portacabin to sign his contract. We have managed to install a gym somewhere in some space designed for something else, plus our stadium is uninspiring.

If you avoid relegation you are established . Establishment only ever lasts until you get relegated. Ask Stoke, they were a fixture for a while. Villa, were once established in many people’s eyes. Only the mega wealthy can claim to be safely established long term. Edited by Putitout (07 Aug 2020 2.24pm) Edited by Putitout (07 Aug 2020 2.30pm)

Are you being sarcastic or are you really silly enough to believe that rubbish? Any team that has been up in the Premier league more then 2 season HAS money. The club gets a considerable amount just for staying up. We are loaded. We have a very tight consortium. We have money, we just never spend any. Either you haven't been keeping up or you have very little grasp of finances. Can I interest you in a loan?

Only 7 teams in the EPL are truly established, the big 6 and Everton. Every other team is one bad season away from relegation, regardless of how much money they spend to reach the so-called "next level". FFP, instigated by the establishment elite, has effectively shut the door on all but a handful of teams breaking into that exclusive club on a permanent basis.

It's pretty clear from the OP that what he is looking for is reasons why, after an extended period in the PL, we have not grown as a club. This topic has been discussed many times before and its not an easy one to answer. As others have pointed out, it's not just staying in the PL that is an indicator of growth, I would argue that in 7 years we should by now, have better training/academy facilities sorted, a proper scouting network that brings in players who we can turn at a profit and most importantly we should be a lot further down the road with the ground improvements. I appreciate that some of these matters are being attended to albeit slowly, however we are still not the attraction we should be given we are the only PL team in South London. We should have schools and colleges on a short leash for talent in the south London Boroughs, Kent and East Surrey but we inevitably lose out as many turn us down, probably because they consider us unfashionable.

IMO very poor management of recruitment with NO clear picture of the future. Most managers we recruit are brought in to firefight relegation. We need a clear way forward with the correct people investing in the club and that is not an easy ask!

I live just down the road from Ashton Gate in Bristol and their stadium has probably had more renovation over the period we have been in the PL than Selhurst. Clearly we have overspent on player's wages, as that can be the only reason why we have struggled in the transfer market and to not grow the stadium facilities.

The issue is that 75-80% of our income goes out on wages..we've hugely overpaid players for doing mediocre jobs. Most businesses pay more in wages than anything.

Money primarily, the Premiership is a mercenary place where money buys short term loyalty. Long term planning, and a definitive "Palace" playing style. To date we've had Holloway, Pulis, Pardew, Allerdyce, De Boer, and Hodgson plug gamely away just to tread water. Parish has only just got round to upgrading the Academy and Selhurst Park has had zero investment. We've stood still, and are slowly sliding backwards.
