If Roy Hodgson is such a great manager how come he seems now at a total loss and incapable of motivating his team?

Pardew was not everyone's cup of tea but he at least maintained the time honoured tradition that Palace were the most unpredictable and, occasionally, quite an entertaining PL side?

Entertainment is an alien concept for Mr Hodgson.

If we lose the next 3 and set an unwelcome record of 8 consecutive defeats, he, and not exclusively the players, will be to blame.

I don't think you need the if there... we're going to lose the next 3 games but there is almost no chance of us going down so I'd have a lot of respect for Roy if he threw caution to the winds and tried something/anything different. Play the kids, change the formation, anything... just make these games watchable rather than the stodgy, boring nightmares that make me want to bang my head on the table.

Players win you games. Managers lose you games.

When we looked like Barcelona against Bournemouth a few weeks back I didn't come away from it saying 'I tell you what, Roy's selection, tactics and timing of substitutions were absolutely superb today'.

Has been and always will be this way.

Be careful of where you're polishing

I am reminded of a quote from Brian Clough :

"Good managers make good sides. There's no such thing as a side making a manager"

I don't agree that Hodgson is no longer capable of motivating his team. It's been a very bad run of results but I bet you weren't saying what an excellent motivator he is after we had won four games in a row.

And now you're getting all misty eyed about Pardew - let me remind you that people were baying for him to be fired long before Parish finally did the deed. The only place we were heading for under Super Al was the Championship.

Entertainment ? - It's a results business. Norwich play entertaining football at the expense of actually winning games. Presumably you would be happy if we were in their position.

If we lose eight games in a row, any manager would come under pressure and I would expect that to be the case with Hodgson. I wouldn't say it's exclusively his fault but as always it's easier to dispense with one person rather than an entire group.

Poor old Roy getting rather confused these days.
Praising Man U for giving their youngsters a chance and yet doing the opposite with ours.

Win 4 games on the trot to reach the '40 point' milestone and everything is rosy in the garden.

Then lose three games to teams in the top four and supposedly the wheels have come off and Hodgson is pilloried.

It's the manner in which they were lost. All of a sudden we look the worst team in the PL by a country mile.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

At Leicester we gifted them 2 goals to poor individual errors.

Against Chelsea we put up a spirited second half performance.

At A.Villa if Sakho's header was allowed to stand, we would have taken an early lead and it could have been a totally different game.
