Schlupp will be on the bench though. Our secret weapon.

We can all probably make a pretty accurate guess as to what team is likely to start, but given recent performances (whether due to tiredness or lack of desire) I hope Roy shakes things up a bit (the squad is so small he can't do much though!).

I would like to see:

VG

Ward Dann Sakho PvA

McCarthy Kouyate Riedewald Meyer

Wilf Ayew

That midfield might be more capable of retaining possession, with CK acting as the human wall to try and stop Pogba and that Portuguese bloke. We are going to be spending 98% of the game in our half so I see no point playing Townsend and would instead stick McCarthy on the right-side of midfield to support Ward who has been really struggling. When we have possession Meyer can then push on to support the attack, hopefully threading through-balls to Ayew and Wilf. Ayew can also drop back to support giving Wilf more freedom to roam.

This is all just a bit of fun on my side, but it would be nice to see something different.

But if we put out a more adventurous formation with Meyer and Reidewald starting instead of the same old 8 man defence then at least we can say the Manager has tried.

At this stage of the season we have nothing to lose except a further dent in our reputation as the most boring and unskilful team in the league.

--------------Guaita

Ward---- Dann ---Sakho -------Van Aanholt

-----Riedewald -----Kouyate

Zaha ---------Meyer ---------Townsend

---------------Ayew

Riedewald to man mark Fernandes, Kouyate to add height

If it's McArthur, Milivojevic, Kouyate I'll probably only give the game 10 minutes to confirm my suspicions before moving on

I'd be happy with that line-up just to see if it was a better option. Of course, Roy would need to give Jairo and Max at least the first 60 mins before withdrawing them to make way for his favoured players.

no chance playing 2 up top against united...we will need a holding 3 to contain pogba & fernandes

Shame it's taken so long and he's not really going to be back properly until next season. We are much better with Schlupp than without.

Hmm, I think slightly better is more accurate, but I agree he adds something. I don’t think anyone knows his best position either.

Given the height of Maguire, Lindelof, Pogba, McTominay, given Benteke is out, I really don't know how Kouyate is the one who has been dropped.

We're getting rinsed at set pieces and have put out a really short team.
