I had high hopes of Meyer when he came. He is a neat and tidy player who passes well but he is not much of a goal threat and looks to lightweight to play a holding midfield role. On plus side he was a free signing on down side i think we can get in a better player for the wages he is on.

I've been critical of Meyer, possibly unfairly but he just never seems to be on the same page as everyone else. I think he could be a decent squad player for someone, just not for us.

Silva and Meyer are 2 different species when it comes to football talent. Exactly, just because he’s small and technically pretty good, doesn’t make him a world beater. I agree he may go on to do better elsewhere (a la Sorloth) but I haven’t seen much from him to lead me to believe he’s worth the hype.

I think Meyer needs to move on if possible, Roy doesn't play attacking midfielders, apart from Wilf and Andros (who you could argue are wingers) every other midfielder is defensive. Good technical player but we don't get enough from him to justify the wages. One gripe I do have with Max is that when I watched Palace warm up before games (back in the good old days) and they would do lay-offs and shoot he looked to be the most comfortable on both feet yet he rarely does in a game.

Meyer deserves a good run in the team to sharpen up and show us what he can do. I think it is very unfair the way he used at present and especially last evening coming on in 89th minute. We do desperately need an attacking midfielder and my be Meyer is the answer but we will never know unless he is in the starting line up more often, seems crazy that we reportedly pay £125K per week and hardly use him!

Agree but I do not think your wage quote is correct, more in region if £80k but still too much for a player you refuse to use

There have been many players over the years who have struggled because of this. One that sticks in my mind was Belgian International Roger Van Gool who played at Coventry in 80/81. He spent a lot of matches looking dumbstruck and shaking his head that no-one had passed the ball into the acre of space he had just created for himself, or he would play the killer pass into an area his fellow forward was stood looking at. They said when he left it was because he wasn’t on the same wavelength as the rest of the team whereas most fans thought he was simply too good for them. As many have already said, Meyer is a decent player playing in the wrong team.

The club need to make up their mind what to do with him. He has a year left on his contract so I’d imagine they will be looking to sell when window opens. If he values himself as a player he will be pushing for a move but he looks like a player to me that will be more than happy to sit on the bench for another year then pick up a handy pay packet elsewhere.

A class act would stand out even in a poor team. When we had Lombardo you could see he was head and shoulders above the rest. Meyer has never looked more than average.

Hi we could have been a hero last night had the ball bounce off the post to him and he scored,, Hodgson would have been given credit for "Super Sub". Hopefully he will play against Villa, as they proved at Anfield, they are fluid... Originally posted by Den1923
