A certain AWB was thrown in among the big guns. Did not seem to do him (or the team) much harm. Roy's refusal to blood the young ones is one of his very few weaknesses.

Yep, the two lads (Lokilo and Flannagan) have been released and I felt that Lokilo was better than Pierrick. In terms of current youth team players that I think deserve a chance are Aviero, McGregor, Kirby and Dreher and Pierrick

When wilf went off wasnt pierrick his replacement.
The team shape would have been what roy started with. I dont get putting meyer on in wilfs place when you have albeit a younger replacement.

At least it might help those who think Meyer just needs more opportunities in the team to see that he is an over-rated and expensive flop who needs to be shipped out pronto to free up some wages. He had few touches, repeatedly lost possession when he did get the ball and embarrassingly blew our best chance. It was worth a try, but it hasn’t worked out and we need to move on.

This could basically be describing the whole team ( apart from the chance, which personally I would consider a half chance at best). I am not saying MM will make the grade but to judge him on Wednesday is harsh.
I think should put some perspective on Wednesday, playing the Champions strongest side, who then had an 8 day break. Losing VG late on and WZ basically during the warm up. The meltdown on here is staggering

MM is not a wide player. He needs to be given a chance as a number 10 - but unfortunately our central midfielders are not encourgaed to play in an attacking way.
Re youth players. the official site says that Banks and Woods are now back from their loans and training with the first team, but that returning loanees can only play in exceptional circumstances such as an injury crisis - surely having ony 8 subs on Wednesdday counts as that? Hodgson should ask the FA for permission to include them.
