Whilst true, this is a little short cited. If we give 4 youngsters a go and one of them is the next AWB/Zaha, we’ve could have a big asset. Surely the point of the academy is to develop players who either make it to the first team or who could be sold at a profit. Now is the perfect opportunity to give a few of them a chance. If it costs us two league positions and £3.8m it’s not the end of the world. Gamble worth taking in my opinion. That said, I’ve no idea how good our current youngsters are. Very valid positive points. Unfortunately history seems to indicate that past and present managers in the club don't throw youngsters in willy nilly. If we obtain the win at Bournemouth then we have 8 games left. If we place the youngsters in then, we could well throw all of those games. The only scenario I can see a load of youngsters being tested out is if we were told we could not be relegated rain or shine.

I understand about the desire to test the young guns, but Roy has been using them in training with the first team, which begs the question whether he thinks any of them are actually good enough or ready? Pierrick did well in his cameos so may get a few more opportunities, but barring injuries it doesn't seem there's anyone ready to push ahead of bench players like Meyer or Riedewald.

The one that might get a game is Mitchell - helps decide whether we do need to buy a second left back or if he could be it. Pierrick will still probably be in and around the squad. Otherwise, unless something surprising happens, every club needs the money and the difference of £10m between 15th and 10th is enormous. Remember that we have taken on new debt and are looking at possibly no ticket revenue next year, with an ageing squad that needs investment.

I rate Mitchell, seen him play a few times, reminds me of AWB, in the way he times his tackles & interceptions. Not so hot at going forward, but, wont allow players to go past him.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

If we start picking up injuries due to lack of match fitness like they have in the Bundesliga Roy might not have a choice.

The way we set up, the important thing for the LB is to make sure the opposing winger/RWB doesn't get past, so let's give the lad an outing or two.

Well, the last leg of the season is literally a shop window... players out of contract or looking for new ones.. people watching - it's literally a window to impress. I would definitely use the bench with 5 places though to introduce youngster for the last 10. Have your usual 3, then 2 wild cards. Could give us a heads up for next year but also a chance to sell a few on to lower leagues maybe or lease a few.

Title of post suggests a proposed starting line up. Yet not one. No injuries apprently. So go for it we have a whole squad to choose from

Yes, clearly benefits the elite squads but it should also give teams like Palace the rare opportunity to blood youngsters. I like it though, and it could add a new dimension to the game.
