as ever people should remain aware as sadly there's always some undesirable looking to profit from a bad situation. That's true as the corona virus lockdown is a scammers charter but in this case a common or garden toerag would have been unlikely to have known that Jamesey was a season ticket holder to Crystal Palace

Perhaps the club might like to confirm what, if anything, they have done in this matter.

It sounds that you have the option to check with the Club. For all we know it could be the Marketing Department checking for need - which imo would not breach GDPR. We all need to be careful in these times, does the Club have a stash of soft paper, with Izal for those not highly regarded? Or those with less than 3000 Parish Points.

There's clearly efforts going into providing support to the Palace family by the club. Here's an article from the Mail about the club contacting supporters. Can't find any full statements from the club but there's a quote on the Palace For Life Foundation website saying that they will provide support. So hopefully this is what the OP experienced and nothing else untoward. Edited by samprior (23 Mar 2020 1.06pm) Edited by samprior (23 Mar 2020 4.19pm)

According to the Daily Mail it was employees of the club themselves who contacted you

He was phoning, along with others, to see if any of us needed help in any of the usual areas such as shopping, mobility, etc. My own family doesn’t need help at present (fingers crossed) but I was touched to know that the older bunch of us were being remembered and my gratitude goes out to this admirable gesture. Not true, I have a polypin being delivered from Wye Valley Brewery tomorrow at £64 (about £2 a pint). The delivery is free(in the price if you prefer).

Thanks for that Beak. I've just found another online brewery selling polypins of real ale...a little more expensive than yours but what the heck. Hope it turns up. Paid with PayPal but no delivery date as yet. Edited by Jamesey (23 Mar 2020 5.35pm) Edited by Jamesey (23 Mar 2020 6.29pm)

According to the Daily Mail it was employees of the club themselves who contacted you Thanks for link Midlands. Got another call an hour ago from a man called Tom McGuinness. He told me that he and the original guy who contacted me both work for the club and are phoning their way through a relevant list. Don't think there is much to worry about if anyone actually needs their help. But you were right to be suspicious in these difficult times.
