disagree - the new stand would be a transformation - you'd have three sides of the ground up to date with a 60s hangover - and the AW is far less of an eye sore than the old stand though the facilities are inferior, it's a race against time whether we rebuild or it falls apart - atm two main stands are out of date and the other is sainsburied. that should read "three sides of the ground up to date with the other a sixties hangover"

Hardly going to become a big club. They have an inferiority complex which is not entirely incorrect.

It would certainly be a significant improvement but to my mind a "Major transformation" of the ground would be upgrades to some or all of the other stands which of course have not been included in the plans. I accept that the 'Arthur Wait' is less of an eyesore than the current Main Stand but the facilities are dire and the view from the top seats is somewhat obscured by the gantry, besides the seats at the rear are quite a distance from the pitch and reflects the antiquated design.

Edited by Willo (18 Feb 2020 11.50pm) Yes, it seems a bit unlikely, but then again Brighton didn't always fill the 7,000 capacity Withdean Stadium but don't seem to have problem getting 30,000 at the Amex. Having said that, Brighton don't have the same competition from having other clubs situated nearby that Millwall have, and indeed Palace. As for Palace, I do believe that we need to upgrade Selhurst Park sooner rather than later as we are increasingly looking a bit antiquated as a club and I worry that it will affect the calibre of coach/manager and players that we will be able to attract.

With Millwall being the closest club to the City of London, the popularity of football increasing, and transport improvements leading to gentrification of the area they may be the ideal London club to invest in. A shiny new stadium could promote a shiny new image and attract more city types. With the east London line, bakerloo line extension and crossrail all serving south-east London they could start to attract a lot more supporters. Although, I suspect they've taken a leaf out of Parishes book and done this for attention.

Prior to playing at the Withdean, Brighton played at faraway Gillingham in I believe Div 3 and lost a great deal of support because of disenchantment as a result of the move away from the Goldstone, playing in the lower division and the travelling distance for 'Home' games. They then went to the Withdean and for most of their time at this ground they played in Divisions 2 and 3 so there was little incentive's for the crowds to return even though they moved back into the Brighton area. Millwall in recent seasons have hardly attracted big crowds despite playing in the Championship and at the Den.
