Even when we win it inevitably tends to be by a very narrow margin. Okay, you might argue a win is a win so what's the issue? But, the trouble is, having a bit of success by scraping points with your backs to the wall can work for a while but you are only a couple of steps from things going the other way i.e against you. The chances are we will scrape through again this season, but without some change in our player recruitment policy , coaching, game strategy and style of play, our luck will run out. Edited by Pete53 (22 Dec 2019 9.59am) Edited by Pete53 (22 Dec 2019 10.00am) agree - the seeds are there for a Charlton, stoke or sunderland scenario - we need to ship out the deadwood and replace them with up and coming players to improve the squad and also make sure we haven't got costly duds if and when we do go down - the ownership issue doesn't help this nor does the hiatus with the new stand - a crunch is coming and SP will be having some very big decisions to make very soon.

Roy is not performing miracles. We've got a team that can stay up fairly comfortably. We should have got 6 points from the last 3 games, but he stuck everyone behind the ball and we came away with 2. He's got a well organised side, but individual skill levels seem to be deteriorating, too much pressure on our star player. With the tactics, training, and refusal to play certain players it's no wonder that players we have want to leave, and player recruitment is difficult.

What really irks me is, we have been in the Premier now getting all this money and the ground is basically still the same, whilst teams around us have improved their grounds, even Fulham are building a new stand, i really thought our new stand would happen, but have serious doubts now, Roy is a good manager, we have good players, but our long term plans seem stuck

I'm only aware of one and that is Zaha. And name a player that has rejected Palace because of the tactics and training ? And you think we should have taken more points recently given our injury situation ? Given the budget, or rather lack of, that Hodgson has to work with I would say he's doing a great job. I'm not going to disagree about the way the team is set up, but he has a job to do - keep us in the Premier League. It appears that the ambition of the current ownership doesn't extend beyond that.

Unless we fix our recruitment, we will end up like Sunderland. They overspent on ageing players, rarely if ever sold anyone for a profit, and eventually collapsed. We have got to create a balanced squad.

I concur with these sentiments. Hodgson took over when the team was on it's knees to the extent that we lost the first 7 games without scoring a goal and he kept us up in his first season finishing 11th. He has kept us competitive and secured survival despite a lack of support in the transfer window and whilst we all accept the football is unattractive and a hard watch,the ends have justified the means.

Oliie Watkins has received plaudits at Brentford, a £1.8 Mill signing from Exeter, but Said Benrahma whom they purchased for £1.5 Mill from Nice, is a player I have enjoyed watching. Thomas Frank their manager got off to a torrid start when taking over from Dean Smith when the team were 7th, losing 7 of his first 10 games in charge, but Brentford stuck with him and it is paying dividends.

A few years ago I remember Stoke had started to feel secure in the Premiership and wanted to play more attractive football. We scored the goal that relegated them down to the Championship. Hodgeson has been great for Palace.....and to play attacking attractive football you need the players....and for that you need the money and a seriously good coach. People need to accept that Palace have been punching above our weight for years.....there are plenty of clubs with better grounds and clubs with higher attendances than us in the Championship.

Team wise no . We are more than comfortable in this division but do need to recruit younger upgrades rather than just younger or the same as what we have got . My concerns would be at board level ,team investment and how much the club is being milked by the American investors

Yes but three of those were with him in charge. FDB only lasted the first 4.
