Me too! And he was honest enough to admit that he got it wrong tactically from the start and got it right when he changed it.

Watch the clip - he laughs with derision when asked if we're going to be active in the transfer market. We've gotten ourselves in a ridiculous situation with the ownership.

Are you serious ?

They have been trying to offload their investment in Palace for months now. Why would they throw more money at something they want out of ??

You're pointing your fingers at the wrong people here.

They are the primary impediment to our investing in the team & taking it forward. For anyone wishing to apportion blame, they're as good as anyone. They miscalculated their investment in the first place and generally didn't really move the club in a great direction. Now they want out.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Don't accept that argument.
Zaha is valued at £80 million, Benteke is a regular in the excellent Belgium squad and cost £30 million, Wickham cost around £9million as did Townsend; Ayew is up for Africa player of the year.
Meyer was one of the highest rated young players in Germany.
Camarasa was player of the year for Cardiff in the Premier League.
To look at it from the standpoint of summer expenditure in isolation is a narrow view.
I would take our forward options ahead of Sheffield United but it’s a matter of how they are utilised.

I don’t think you can argue that Benteke and Wickham are good attacking options irrespective of their cost. Meyer did some good things last night but has otherwise been very disappointing despite some good opportunities including against lower division opponents.

Well that's what Investors do. Put money in and take it out.

I don't think they mis-calculated their investment, rather than they were never seriously committed to it in the first place.

Yes, their wanting to sell is a blocker to the clubs progress but I think blame is a strong word to use.

And I'll say it again, in an era when there is generally plenty of interest in investing in a Premier League club, it begs the question of why they seem unable to shift their shares.

One senses a real disillusionment in Hodgson's messages about possible transfers.Perhaps his feelings will lead to him not extending his contract and will deem it is time to retire rather than endure another season of trying to pull rabbits out of a hat at his time of life.

Hi Neill

The answer to that is all too clear to see:

- the playing squad is ageing and requires significant investment. Many of the current squad on an unsustainably high wage level given our revenues.
- the ground. Whichever way you look at it, it requires significant investment.
- the club are at almost the peak of what they can realistically achieve. The only real way is down. What investor wants to buy at the top?

I don't see Roy as the retiring type.

People in here all I keep reading is blaming the Americans when it is nothing to do with them.

From day one they came in with no intention on spending any money regarding the likes of transfers but for training plus ground improvements and was generous to end up going against that pumping money into the club. (it's clear to see they was mislead SP like he has fans showing of all these fantasy plans but reality is it was never going to happen)

People again letting SP of the hook he has not pumped any of his own money into the club and I bet he is the reason for not being able to sell he doesn't want to give up his hold.

Hi Brian,

Agreed, the club has painted itself into a corner in many respects.

Whether those factors alone are deterring investment, I don't know but I suspect that it is Parish's insistence that he remains in charge that presents a major stumbling block

It certainly won't help.
