I hope we don't get Europe next year. There, I've Said it! We're where we are due to other teams not performing coupled with our own stubbornness to be defeated or give up hope of a win(which is great to see, I may add, and long may it continue). But we don't have the quality or, more importantly, the squad to compete in Europe as well as Domestic competitions. Even with the added lure of europe - do you still think this will change our scatterbrain transfer approach. Decent strikers will still be hard to come by. FFP will still be an issue. Benteke will still be on the books.

We still have a very thin squad and it'll be years before we're able to contemplate being able to compete in Europe even if we did qualify.

I do want to see us play a decent team in Europe. I fully get the logic of why it might backfire but i think football is about our right to dream.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Agreed. Logically, I don't want us to get in, but from an emotional perspective, I think it would be tons of fun to watch and possibly go to some new destinations. Palace supporters in Italy, Germany, Spain, Greece, etc. would be amazing. Originally posted by Ginger Pubic Wig

If we got into europe, we would have to field youth teams for the league cup and FA cup, it be too much having 3 other cups net to a league campaign - we saw how wolves and burnley, even leicester faired on their travels and our euro adventure would have to be respected, naturally but not viewed as anything other than friendlies - we are not winning it. We couldn't take it seriously as our squad is no where near good enough. If i were in charge and we got to europe, i would seriously consider making it almost free for palace fans to get tickets - as a treat. That way if it's a write off, the fans cant feel hard done by.

Isn't there traditionally one team that plummets from the top, then tries to arrest their slide before the Relegation Zone? Looking like we're climbing the steps of that slide right now. Hopefully we'll get to The top, and politely decline like the kid with Vertigo, and slowly descend the Steps stopping halfway thinking 'Next time' I'll go all the way... It’s an odd one, in some areas (centre back, goalkeeper and possibly centre midfield) we’re the strongest we’ve been since promotion. Then clearly full-back and attackers, weakest in a few years. Just 2 or 3 signings away from realistically challenging that top 8, but seems like we’re always 2 or 3 players away.

I'd love to see us in Europe and in Roy we have a manager experienced at playing in it. Yes it would put pressure on the squad, but imagine having a season where we're not just thinking about possible relegation. Also, it would make us a more attractive proposition for future transfers. It seems highly implausible given Ayew is our only fit and able striker, but stranger things have happened.

Do you reckon we'd get the stabbing-in-the-bum treatment Manure fans got when they went to Rome, for example, or do you think Palace fans would be welcomed?

Burnley unexpectedly finished 7th in 2017-18 and qualified for the Europa League. They played 6 games in the EL at the start of the season.Burnley only won 2 of their first 15 PL games that season and finished in 15th place.

I like this idea! Gate Receipts can;t be a large chunk of income when compared against TV Revenues per game, especially if you are in a group with a crowd puller.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
