LM should go straight back into the team and as Captain but this will not affect the influence of Cahill as he is a born leader and is a more than able deputy. The last thing Roy would wish to do is rock the boat when there is no need.

Bring back Brolin

Of course Luka should go back into the team and as captain. There is no point in even thinking of stirring the squad up with that one.
He organises the defence when he plays anyway.
There is no doubt that Cahill still possesses many very useful attributes and strange that Chelsea decided to relieve themselves of his services.
Lets hope our London neighbours still think in the same benevolent way when January comes around and we ask them about Batshuayi!

Agree with this assessment. He is a cynical fouler and has poor passing ability. McArthur and McCarthy are more efficient in midfield. His captaincy was exposed over the Benteke penalty incident. Unfortunately for my opinion the manager does not agree and he, not me, is in charge!

I think there are 2 main areas where Luka could do better. Firstly I have winced several times at his challenges when already on a yellow and am really not sure how he has not got a second in some of those games. I guess you can say that there is a reckless streak that may well come back and bite him.

Then as a leader he doesn’t talk enough to the referee or intervene when a good captain should. When Wilf was working so hard to get himself sent off at Southampton it needed his captain to be in there pulling him away and telling him to shut his gob. I don’t think he shows leadership then

Whether anybody else would do better is however both speculation and academic

Luka missed the Leicester away game a couple of seasons ago and that coincided with one of our best performances of the season with Mcarthur and Cabaye dominating the midfield .
I also felt that on Saturday we looked far.more fluent in midfield with Mcarthur in the defensive midfield role and McCarthy coming into the team.
This season I’m not sure what Luka gives us.
He’s a Roy favourite and accomplished penalty taker...after that I struggle.
He is one paced, sloppy in possession and inclined to give away silly fouls on the edge of the area.
From what I have seen Cahill would make a more than adequate captain.
I’m not advocating that Luka is discarded.
I’ve seen him have excellent games for us but I think he should have to earn his place along with the rest of the players.
He has not done this so far this season and competition is healthy for the club.
