weve done well tbf, especially given we are going thru a cycle of essentially cost-saving after various expensive seasons, the thing is we are actually getting better whilst spending no cash. kouyate has been my player of the season thus far, the guy is immense. yes, of course we could have signed a striker and a full back, but we didnt so we have to look forward and take confidence from the fact we look a decent team.

I'm sorry to point out that you cant just multiply what you get in the first quarter of a season and then times it by 4 to end up with a final tally. weve got tough games ahead and weve only scored a handful of goals and one of those was an OG. Just a reality check thats all, as our striker/goal scorer situ is a worry. COYP

We’re the lowest scoring team in the Premier League with no sign of any improvement to this aspect of our game.

I don't care if who is the mnaager you would have thought that any PL footballer would know that with a minute to go and your team 1-0 up you would keep the ball and take it to the corner and see the game out. Roy was badly let down on Sunday and no blame attached to him for the result, oh and neither does he expect highly paid players to miss absolute sitters.

I'll start by saying I'm a long time fan but have been an of the armchair variety for a long time. So cut me some slack if I get stuff wrong please. I'm not entirely stupid but I never got near Benteke's weekly remuneration in a year. Is the club poor because it pays humungous money to some very average players? Even if we had the dosh what ambitious striker would see a future at Palace? We have to get them young. It's where our greatest players have come from. Where are they now?
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

After the Norwich game, we have a very tough run of 6 games against 4 of top 6 plus West Ham and Leicester ( now McGuires gone no easy 3 points). A points hall of nil is very possible from these games. Then we have a run of far easier games until after New Year. 3 points against Norwich is a must or we could slip into the bottom 3 by November. This with bells on. Think 11 of our first 15 games are against teams who finished in the top half or so last season. Very tough opening. As a result the beginning of December is the time to talk about a good start to the season. If we can keep ourselves above water by then, then we will be in good shape. Feel we need to get the 3 on Saturday as well. COYP !!

You say 'we've done well tbf' As for the squad can you honestly tell me that you would sit in our boardroom and argue in August for additional midfielders and a third goalkeeper over signing an additional full back and paying even £10-15m for another striker to join us if we are that cash strapped either by FPP/having to repay the current investors who want out or utilising the money towards future development?

We've used half of our seasons quota of 'luck' (Utd/Villa) and we're still in September. We've been bloody poor regardless of the table.

The loss of 2 points to Wolves didn't bother me that much, because I felt like we really didn't play well enough to deserve the 3 points. Wolves outplayed us much of the game, and could have been ahead 2-0 without some miracles by Guaita. Giving up the tying goal was unprofessional that we gave a side with 10 men so many chances at the end. We also got extremely lucky to get 3 points versus Villa, so I feel like 4 points from Villa-Wolves is a gift. But...Even with our decent point total so far, I'm more skeptical than ever that we will avoid relegation this year. First, we've not played well in any game so far, except the ManU game. It's the same old issue as the past 2-3 years. No one can pass the ball, no one can create offense. It's painful football to watch. No one except Zaha, and he'll likely be gone. People have been saying this for years, but the fact that we still have no striker is mind boggling, gross mismanagement, and likely it will be our ticket to the championship. We played our best football at the end of last season, when we had both Zaha and Batshuyahi playing all the time. Bats is gone, Zaha will be gone in January. What then? We fight off relegation with only Ayew and Benteke? It's laughable to imagine, but that appears to be the plan. Second, there are no terrible teams this year. Villa, Norwich, and Sheffield are better than the dross at the bottom of the table last year. I don't see any team being out of it before April like last year. Third, the lack of spending after the AWB windfall is a red flag to me that our finances are more dire than we think. We got a massive pile of cash for losing our second best player, then we signed...basically no one...to replace him or to get a striker or to get a creative midfielder. Presumably, we'll make some signing after cashing out on Zaha, but I don't have much confidence we'll find a hidden gem in the January window who can single-handedly keep us up, like Zaha has basically done in recent years. Sorry to be a downer, I just feel like everything is trending toward a really difficult year for us. I hope I'm wrong.

Three points from the Norwich game this Saturday and I would largely agree with your assertion. Those lost points against Wolves still smart though and if we drop more this weekend I would feel we have short changed ourselves.
