What credentials....pathetic ..just like Dougie appointment and as future management..you are taking the piss

He has been a coach, a manager, an assistant manager, a captain at a football club, knows the club, knows the ethos of the club, knows the people around him he will be working with, knows what it takes to work hard as a player to reach the highest levels, has been through the high and low points at the club, will have a positive influence on players working their way up hopefully into palaces first team (or at least some of them.)

So please tell me why you feel he is a bad choice? Or is it that you think everyone associated with the club cannot return? If you bother to listen/watch his interview you may feel differently but I doubt youd strain yourself to do so.

Another ex player at the club. Reminded me of this.

Different owners, manager, players. Might be the same tea-lady though.
Manager, coach and assistant manager haven't really worked out, have they ?
I can't see the attraction of appointing him in that job.

You mean like Paddy who also looks after the academy? Or Dougie? Richard Shaw? Strange tea ladies we have. Ofcourse the players are different, hes working with the academy..

Are you really trying to say you think he will be a poor influence on the academy, have nothing to bring and had no knowledge of what he has to do?

Well said. Loved the guy as a player. Tough and passionate and understands the club, it’s history and it’s ethos. Welcome back Shaun. The sort of mentality we need to be encouraging in our youngsters.

Reckon he's a solid addition and great to see investment going into the academy.

The fuss about us employing old players is hardly unique to us. Clubs up and down the country do similar things. But obviously you notice it more at Palace as that's the team we support.

A quick glance at Chelsea and I think I counted 10ex players on this staff list and that's not even covering reserve/youth team managers where you normally get a load more ex players.

Made me chuckle that did.

If the appointment had been the ex-Palaceman who is Chris Hughton's brother, the thread could have been entitled "Hooray Henry".

I see you failed to disagree with my comment

I welcome Mr Derry back to the club . If you listen and read about the poor academy coaching , as also shown by the lack of players coming through , he my be just what we need to give everyone a kick up the ****

Made me chuckle too, although given Dougie's efforts I'd say he's the Benteke of the transfer window.

So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet.
