I try to be positive, especially with a 2-0 with at the weekend, but how on earth is this guy getting played so much.

He must have something over Roy......I have never seen a player with such little football intelligence. Gives the ball away so much with terrible passes, daydreams and gets caught of position so badly. He shows if you have a left foot, pace and keep yourself fit you can make it to the premiership somehow with little football technique

but i do love him still........hes an eagle.

I am pretty sure that Roy has something over you! That is football knowledge.

Schlupp may not be the best defender in the world, or the greatest creative midfielder. He does though have a way of getting himself into positions that affect us positively, has a hard, controlled shot and good energy.

He gets some quite ridiculous criticism here when he plays a very important role in some games. To compare him with Meyer is nonsense. They are completely different, suited to and employed for very different circumstances.

I'm not saying I never criticise players, but...in my more rational moments, it occurs to me that the quality and intensity of the Premier League are such that if Schlupp (or any of the other players with a critical thread) were as bad as is made out, we'd be suffering a lot of heavy defeats, which hasn't been the case so far.

I know they're two different players but leaving in the bench Max Meyer to play with Schlupp I sincerely don't get it...

The Meyer debate has been done to death. For me he is too lightweight and is brushed off the ball too easily, he has no pace, he lacks passing range (ok on the short stuff but I haven’t seen him ping a crossfield ball yet), and I thought he would have a real eye for goal – which hasn’t been evident yet. First and foremost these days you need to be an athlete in the Prem with physical attributes to match. Schlupp has pace, he has an eye for a goal, he is strong in the tackle. So there may be some of the reasons why he is ahead of Meyer in the pecking order.

If Wilf isn't banned for Saturday then drop PVA and play Schlupp there in my opinion.
PVA is having a 'mare every week at the moment.

I have never been convinced by Meyer and totally understand why Hodgson has picked Schlupp over him.

If someone can tell me who has given the ball away more this season than Jeffery Schulpp then please state your case.

Yes, he has some creativity (but not much) and he has been in the right place for his goals but to compare him with the passing and creative skills of Max Meyer is daft.

If we had more with Meyer's skill Benteke, Ayew (even him) and Batshuyai would be scoring for fun. And it might yet happen ....

That's not a bad quality to have !

Schlupp has scored the same amounts of goals as Zaha this season and they have been important ones - the all-important opening goal at Fulham on the opening day,the equalsier at Man C not long after they scored the opener and of course the second goal on Saturday which extinguished any hopes of Fulham getting anything from the game.

Not advocating that Schlupp is right up there as a player but I can understand why he gets the nod over Meyer at the present time.Maybe in time Meyer will really be knocking on the door and will have the edge over Schlupp.Football is all about opinions and clearly there are polarised views on this matter.

I don't get the negativity that Schlupp receives. He's been good the last few games and has popped up with some important goals.

Right now I would say we should be more concerned with PVA than Schlupp.

I'm a Schlupp fan,if the guy makes a mistake he never hides, and always wants the ball.
He's strong, quick, and knows how to score a goal. He's not perfect, but then if he was he wouldn't be at the Palace.
I would always pick him over the overrated Meyer who regularly loses possession, and doesn't have the guile or physicality to thrive in the Premier League. Luka and McArthur have not been at their best so far,and Schlupp has been unlucky not to get more playing time.

PVA would be a player that gives it away more than Schlupp and Zaha certainly knows how to squander possession and McArthur would be up there too.

For me, he is a very good player to have in our squad. Strength in depth comes to mind, scores to odd goal as well.
