It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

It's more about having a single hub that can do it all. The tv, soundbar and tv box have 3 remotes so this cuts that down. Handy when the kids lose a remote too. Honestly though, I like it because it is futuristic. The mrs hates it! I have a single hub too, it's called 'me'. The TV has a switch on it that allows me to change the channel (also has a remote control), volume colour settings etc, the thermostat on the wall enables me to set the heating for set times and manually adjust if required, my stereo, like the tv has buttons on it (and a remote control available - never use it as can't get it to turn the records over) to select the required option, be it CD, radio or tape or turntable. I don't have a soundbar, so maybe that's why I don't understand the need for these single hub thingies that from my limited understanding is just a lazy option from turning, tuning, setting electrical items that have a manual options available. Happy to be advised as to what benefits these things offer.

Definitely in the "why go ahead and automate yourself out of existence" camp. If you need a machine to control your other machines and save you the monumental effort involved in finding out the weather , the news or even how to get from A to B then don't complain when the brave new world wonders exactly why its bothering to keep you around. Rant over. Edited by Mr_Gristle (11 Oct 2017 6.00pm)

Until the sex robots come out I'm not interested. Mind you.....will that come with its own ethics? What with BladeRunner 2049 out now and everything.

Something for the paranoids out there to consider...your Echo is always listening...and Amazon keeps the recordings.
