I love him mate, love the smiths work, love his, i got into him around 2004, you are the quarry, then researched and got the old stuff. I would love to see him live. Met him twice in the 90s, as he came into the Friar St Bookshop in Reading. First time looking for a recently released biography of The Smiths, second time for a book that had just won a poetry award. Both times, we didn't have it in stock. Seemed much nicer than I thought he'd be, had a bit of a chat the second time around. Both times he was with a rather effete young male (of exceptional good looks), and I assumed they were a couple. But I believe the case is that he's a man of 'many talents'.

Probably a fair few on here that are far too young to have seen the Smiths live and will never know the sheer electricity 4 guys on stage generated. Being an old but I saw them firstly by accident (went to see the other bands on the bill,) then at University and finally 3 times on the farewell tour. The re release of The Queen is Dead is eagerly awaited. I have pretty much everything released worldwide including some very rare vinyl and even an album on DAT. But Mozza's solo work baffles me. First solo album is a stunner but in the main down to the beauty of Vini Rielly on guitar. I have bought other stuff but it blows hot and cold. Too many attempts at controversy and too often forays into second division music and dodgy lyrics. Much prefer the solo work of Mr Martin. Yes I agree that The Smiths were better than Mozzer solo although I do love his solo work.Maladjusted is a poor album by his standards & he couldn't get a record deal for 7 years afterwards but made a great comeback with You Are A Quarry. Also Southpaw Grammar & Kill Uncle aren't great albums but they do have some great songs on them. All of his other solo albums are great & I can't wait for his new album!Nobody writes lyrics like Morrissey & this is a major reason why he is my favourite artist. If any morrissey fans are reading this post I would recommend them to read his autobiography & its an excellent book.

1 of the greatest moments of my life was getting on stage with him at 1 of his concerts!I was crowd surfing & he put his hand out to pull me onto the stage. It was funny because all the other guys getting on stage that night were hugging & kissing him but I just shook his hand & got dragged off the stage by security.I suppose I was the only straight guy to get on the stage that night! Out of interest Jamie what did you talk about to Mozzer & what did he have to say for himself? Edited by Welsh Eagle (25 Sep 2017 9.04pm)
