Let me clear this up for you all.

There is no "race" so there can be no racism. There is only racism in law which is designed to protect minorities and avoid conflict, but it has no scientific basis whatsoever.
Racist is a term that people use describe all kinds of prejudice ranging from religious to tribal, national, cultural and sometimes superficial physical differences but often it is just a political word that allows people to shut down an argument or try and gain advantage in a situation.
The reasons why people dislike or are suspicious of each other is often very complex and the simple term "racist", as well as being inaccurate, just doesn't cover it at all.

Thanks.

I suppose then, if we are peeling back layers of truth, then there is actually no law, for anything, either. That is made up too.

A bit of guidance is not always a bad thing though even if whatever it is one is being told about is somewhat illogical.

Not quite, race isn't a real thing, scientifically speaking, but that doesn't mean that the ideas of race aren't real, its just highlights the absurdity of racism as a whole.

Its still racist to discriminate against someone based on the colour of their skin, even if there is no scientific basis for race anymore. It just shows racists to be more ignorant that previously believed.

Sometimes, for the good of humanity we have to accept the perceived existence of things which aren't perhaps real. That people can be racist. Apartheid another case in point.

A lot of modern philosophy and neurology would argue that most of our existence is 'false' or hypereality and exists more because we 'believe it to be' than because of any tangible real existence.

Its a functional necessity of modern existence. We all believe in money as real, but in reality its actually paper and tokens, who's value only exists in the shared constructs and situated knowledges that comprise the belief in money.

It's easy to be glib about race if it's had no impact on your life - which is the messaage your post actually conveys.

When I was a teenager I went to Brixton market to buy a reggae record I really wanted, the bloke on the stall told me"I'm not selling no record to no white boy"

I laughed and said whatever, went back to Norwood to get my mate (who was white) went back to Brixton and got the record, cos my mate bought all his records from him.

So Mr Blackpalacefan I have experienced racism.

By the way that's a true story ,but retold tongue in cheek.

And the record was "caught you in a lie" by Louise mark.
"

always a Norwood boy, where ever I live.

I like that.

But what it really highlights is how lazy people are with language and concepts.
I would maintain that no one ever hated someone over their "race". It is about a who complex set of learned and natural behaviour that is often self serving and sometimes self protecting.
When it is used or instigated by certain individuals to further their own ends it can be a dangerous and corrosive thing but equally often, cooperation between groups is equally advantageous. There must be a trigger that sets off one or the other.

How does "race" effect your life in 2016?

Saying racism doesn't exist based on science is a bit mealy mouthed.

Call it colourist or whatever but some people are treated differently based on their colour. The UK is on the whole pretty good but let's not pretend that prejudice doesn't exist

I disagree. The colour of skin is not the issue. That is just an easy association for people to make and people generally do not like complexity.
