It is racist, by definition. However, the context of what is being said, about whom, and who holds the power in such a scenario is stripped away if we look at things from a purely 'black and white' (no pun intended) perspective.

Of course it's racist, better advise would be to avoid poorer neighbourhoods.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Then the question should have been, 'Is this racist in China?'

Which in itself could be interpreted as racist.

Only by our own standards, but we always believe we are the benchmark that everyone else should follow. There's a good argument we've gone too far the other way

Is every black youngster going to rob you, no, are most street robberies committed by black youths, yes.
Are all white middle aged men pedophiles, no, do most pedophiles tend to be white middle aged men, yes.

Want to prevent your chance of either happening, don't go walking through a council estate with a load of black youths hanging about on a street corner also don't take sweets from a white middle aged man.

Is this racist, who cares aslong as it decreases the chances of either happening.

Unless you live in Rochdale, Rotherham, Bradford, Halifax............................................

SS's point is not racist if it is backed up by stats but saying "stay away from white males because they commit white collar crime" is.

Racism is not about Power but Prejudice.

very true, unless you happen to be one of the muppets who believe it is impossible for a black person to be racist, or a woman to be sexist.

To be honest there's plenty of 'white ' areas I wouldn't want to walk through at night or on my own as a white person let alone a tourist as this article is aimed at

Nope. It's good advice imo.

I once got carded here for asking ''Is anyone surprised that the culprit was black?'' in relation to a stabbing incident. Considering that the majority of stabbings appear to be carried out by ''non-whites'' i felt that a card was a bit OTT.

It's good advice.

Its racist, as it assumes a Chinese person would be safe by default in areas that are predominately white. So when this tourist gets down the New Den he'll be welcomed with open arms of cultural diversity and acceptance.
