been going to cornwall for a few years now and with you having the nippers with you , you can't go wrong with Trevone Bay just outside Padstow, Enclosed beach, small shop/cafe, plenty parking, your kids won't want to go home, about 45 mins drive from Looe, Polperro also good, thats more for strolling about and drinking

Defo st.ives, but get the train in from carbis bay as its a nightmare to park in the town. Plus the kids will love the train ride, great views!
best beaches, portmeor, porthwidden and porthminster, all walking distances in st.ives.
Hayle beach is great, grab fish and chips in hayle near the royal standard pub then head over the small bridge opposite, then up to the dunes and beach, take the family one evening and you will probably have the whole beach to yourselves.
Falmouth town and maritime museum
Trebah gardens falmouth, has its own small beach for the kids
Porthleven, great pubs (the ship)
Polperro is great too!
Mousehole is worth a visit

Perranporth beach, you won't regret it. Fantastic 1 mile long beach with a pub. Was on a bbc 1 programme about life guards a few years back.

I'm currently on Hols in Hayle. Great 3 mile beach. Plus easy to get to everywhere. Shortest piece of Cornwall between north and south. Staying at Atlantic Coast Caravan park. Check it out

Look how empty that is. The beaches in Kent are packed with people crammed in like sardines. Cornwalls beaches always remind me of the ones in Australia.

I nearly got caught like that in Majorca a few years back.....seconds after jumping off the rocks pools back to safety a massive wave drenched where I was standing and would have dragged me away.....I did try and convince the mother in law to check it out after but she was having none of it!!
