Technically we're economically in conflict with everyone now, not just the EU (who fair enough, will look to their own interests over ours). But also with the US, China etc as we will need to negotiate our own deals with those nations, without being part of the worlds largest trading block.

I think its inevitable that an exit, will economically and politically, reduce our influence and power, but that's irrelevant, to why people chose to exit. We voted exit to reduce the influence of that trading block over political issues, such as Freedom of Movement etc.

I think its a bit naïve to think that the trade powers of the world will negotiate a better deal for the UK than they do with the whole of the EU / EEA.

But there is more to like than money, and society cannot just be defined by profit and corporate agendas.

All I'm getting from this thread is "cheese".

Was there any point besides "cheese"?

If we can get the leave sulkers off Babybel and onto Dairylee it could be a goer.

Forgive this ignorant colonial who does not understand what the problem is.
You are pulling out of the EU, that I understand, the reason primarily because you are compelled to follow migration rules of the EU and have to fork out a big quid to subsidise the basket case economies of Greece, Spain and Italy soon to be joined by the frogs I believe.
How am I doing so far.
Does your withdrawal give you the freedoms of decision to be masters of your own destiny. How you spend your money, how your industries operate and agriculture rules are freed up from EU restrictions.
if this is what has occurred, it does not mean you cannot trade with the EU does it. The companies you sell stuff to and they sell you, how does that change.
The benefits as I see it are that you are now free to trade with the rest of the world under your terms and theirs of course.
Please help me to understand.

In a simple world, your understanding would be correct sir.

However, the EU bureaucrats have somehow engineered a legal framework to extort money, restrict trade and bully nations into submission.

We're just entangling that legal framework now.

Hah. I love the concept of:

1) wanting to leave the EU because you feel someone else shouldn't dictate our rules and determine how we live our lives and

2) telling people where they should and shouldn't buy their food from

It's a collective response to a combination of punches thrown at us.

He's entitled to his smug response Rudi, and all the while I've got his attention he's not likely to slash his wrists at the thought of losing a debate to a load of thicko old people.

Or paint a placard and shout a lot behind Jon Snow during C4 News. Or just not turn up because it's raining or the police advised you not to. What a strong bunch they are.

The UK are already free to do that. We have trade deals and will continue to make trade deals with other countries, EU member or not.
