I know we all make light of it but as a teacher it's why I still think CRB checks (or what's now known as DBS) is a waste of time. All a CRB check involves is checking whether you have a past criminal record or black marks from the various professional bodies. Costs £65 and takes up to 6 weeks just to say 'na we have no record of any wrong doing'. It only needs done each time you change job as well.

If you're going to do it, do it properly. Check their internet history, check their texts and everything else. Check it once a year. Make teachers or anyone else that's with vulnerable people (child or adult) participate in a psychological screening process. As it is... Total waste of time, money and effort and doesn't catch anyone who is a wrong'un.

I'd never work again - with children, adults, animals, or nuns!

I think I'd never be allowed to leave a single room in my house, let alone work with anyone.

Come to think of it, as a 48 year old I still would.

That's what you get for making the fatal mistake of choosing Metalwork O Level....
