A friend of mine was booked into a hotel in Glasgow by his PA recently and was somewhat dismayed to find out that the hotel was frequented by chaps who were 'not the marrying type', who rented the room by the hour and made some 'horrific' noises.

FYI, his expense claim was rejected because the establishment in question was blacklisted by his company!

I live in the South West and after my Brother having his first child my family and I decided to come down and visit the newst edition to the family.

I chose the South Croydon Travel Lodge, not becuase it was the cheapest family room (as it wasnt) but because of the location being fairley near to where my brother lived.

On arrival we had to wait 20 mins for the receptionist to arrive, despite many attempts by myself and another couple to find her.

She then accused me of trying to smuggle a third child into the room ? Yes I had three children with me, however My eldest was staying with her Nana, after I explained this, the rude bitch stated and I quote "well if I see her about I will charge you for her" I am a 44 year old sgt in the Army, not some randy 19 year old trying to smuggle his chavey bint into a room !!

On arrival into the room it reaked of smoke and stale beer, there was ( I sh1t you not) a plastic bag elastically banded to the smoke detector making it pointless, there was dried piss all over the back of the toilet, the towels were stained with God only knows what, and the floor and crisps trodden in it by the window, oh and there was Ash in the shower.

Now I'm no snob, but after having coughed up £80 quid for a family room, with no extra's like breakfast of free wi-fi, I would of thought the minimum standard would have been clean !!

I urge you not to use this cesspit of a hotel unless it is for the only purpose which it is fit, a drunken leg over at 3am on a friday night.

Email them Danny with exactly the points you have put here and you will get a voucher code for the full amount you paid which you can use to book a better travelogue in the future. I stay at the fontwell park one quite a bit and it is quite nice there.

Perhaps we should re-write the description of the Travelodge?

This is what they have now:

About this hotel

Ideally situated close to numerous transport links, the London South Croydon Hotel is only a fraction of a mile from Purley Oaks train station and is perfect for those planning to visit Croydon town centre, 2.2 miles away. For guests who want to stretch their wings a little wider, Sutton can be found just over 5 miles away and is one of the southernmost boroughs of London.

Crystal Palace in South Norwood is also easily accessible and those looking to catch some sporting action can visit the world-famous Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club, just over 9 miles away, home to premier tennis showcases every summer. Those interested in culture and history will find this a great option, as it is only 11.7 miles from Westminster Abbey. Whether you want to view this architectural masterpiece or simply relax in the capital, you’ll struggle to find a better base in London South Croydon.

I use Jurys Inn in Croydon - from £69 for a room for 2Adults and 2 children...... (and you can have a smoking room too!) Central, spotlessly clean and very comfortable beds - and you get free Wi-Fi too

I've used this Travelodge branch numerous times in the last year pre- Palace games, the room has always been spotless.

With regard to the extra child - they dont charge by the person just the room but they woiuld need to know who was staying for fire safety purposes.

Aside from the odd occasion where there has been noise in the corridor, its been fine. The Toby next door also does a buffet breakfast..
