Is political correctness a bastion of the left? Or of conservatives (with a small c)? Perhaps the irony is that a lot of lefties are very unpc (see Ken Livingstone). Someone said earlier about not being able to say **** and that was no different to calling someone a Scot. However **** has been coopted by racists as a derrogatory expression. The equivalent for a Scot would be Jock.

I guess whatever the situation PC has its place PC gone mad does not. Who decides where the line is?

Political correctness is not a problem in itself but the use of it for political reasons is.
It is now used in the battleground of identity politics for self interest purposes and to manipulate peoples minds in order to pursue a particular agenda.

It is therefore unsurprising that people are cynical when they hear the endless stream of examples.

"If people can't control their own emotions, then they have to start trying to control other people's behavior"

Spot on. I think the most recent season of South Park pretty much sums up PC culture better than I can.

Not really the point, but is political correctness a big deal?

I am a fierce libertarian but political correctness is never something I feel infringes me in my ability to articulate my views or ideas.

An example is you can't call some one from pakistan a p@ki. All P@ki is, is an abbreviation of pakistan. If someone is from Scotland we call them a Scot don't we?
But of course we can't use the other word.

There are many incidences of free speech being stifled by p*l*t**l c**r*ectness and stopping us using plenty of innocent words.
The absolute lunacy and downright f**king stupidity that goes on in the name of political correctness borders on-and I've said it before-mental illness at best, crass stupidity at worse.

How this kind of deranged behaviour ever became accepted as the norm I will never ever know.

Are you 'Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells'?

I view political correctness as an excuse used by lezzers to have a go at men because they cannot find one to marry them and is also used by guilt ridden middle class bellends as an outlet to virtue signal.

Interesting. I've said on here before how those with left wing tendencies don't seem to have a sense of humour because they've got so much angst about themselves and others. There's always a cause to fret about and defend. John Cleese is saying pretty much the same thing.

Cue the Lefties on here to get upset......

Despite the overwhelming majority of successful comedians being left leaning, and the right ones being well, Jim Davidson and Roy Chubby Brown.

Political correctness, or 'not being a d*ck' as it's otherwise known.

It is largely a result of offence by proxy.

Admittedly I loathe this sort of mentality too much to even try to understand it but surely as mentioned it is some form of desire to empathise with a minority or underdog but nothing to do with their actual ill-treatment.

'Hello, OFCOM? I'd like to complain about the BBC sit-com Citizen Khan'
'Your name, Sir?'
'Abbott'
*dialing tone*

Then why are most people who over empathise political correctness complete bellends?
